Thoughts of posting anti-CW info on my LinkedIn profile...but hesitant!

  • Thoughts of posting anti-CW info on my LinkedIn profile...but hesitant!

    See, I'm an aspiring health & safety specialist and am half-way through my courses to complete an Occupational Safety & Health program through distance learning. I'm on the joint health & safety committee at work, am first aid trained, a fire warden, etc. etc. My goal is to get a full-time position in H&S, obviously.

    My finger is twitching to post links on my profile that blast grain and sugar consumption and everything else that is primal and HEALTHY, but I'm worried it would thwart my chances of landing a job in this field.

    What would you do? Should I just (wo)man up and post what needs to be known???

      three pieces of advice i can give you:

      1. there is no manning up when considering these things. this is an emotional factor and should be excluded from your professional life.

      2. if you will shake some big stone you should first chip a little pebble. work in degrees, do not drop the biggies.

      3. if you will decide a track, you will give your heart and brain to it fully, so that you are able to drop the rock in the lake and survive the aftershock.

        Unfortunately for us PB'ers I'd have to agree with dado, esp on #1. There was a thread I read yesterday about someone who is a benefits manager and it hit home for me because I'm also an HR professional... They were doing a healthy benefit thing for their employees and you know it mentioned grains. People suggested perhaps her finding a way to be proud of it by celebrating the exercise bits and the vegetables and WHOLE foods. Non-processed crapola... So it helped me remember that though I too work at a large fortune 20 company I must find a way to work on PB, deal with CW enough that I understand they are all brain washed and do not wish to change. It's as if Hitler was and is their ruler and are afraid to even try to come out from the CW rock.

        I'm sure like many of us (including me) here we rely on each other on this forum when we are frustrated w/ CW. :-)

          i swear most of the time i disagree with you on reflex, what is this rational reasoned advice you keep spouting off lately???

            Thanks for the replies, guys. I understand the advice to keep quiet and start small, so perhaps I'll just stick with what is non-arguable, like how bad sugar and fructose are for you and what it does to the body/cells as a start.

            People in the health & safety field are supposed to promote H&S (at least so it always states in the responsibilities section of job postings, so to me this would include any topic to keep people healthy and well. I'll save grains consumption and healthy fats for a later date.

              You could say people need to watch sugar consumption, eat quality fats when they do, and get plenty of protein because it's the building block of your body.

              Then you go on to slowly reveal that all carbs are sugar, just complex lego constructions of glucose, and that fat can be a valid caloric option.

                For me, I try to avoid putting anything on the internet that might make me look like a crackpot to the uneducated. Remember, we are going completely against CW. I wouldn't mention it in the interview, either.

                Remember, what happens on the internet stays on the internet -- forever.

                    On LinkedIn? I mean, are you using this for a job? I would not put it up there, that stuff is for casual social networks like Facebook, IMO.

                      More and more businesses and creditors alike are using our "casual social networks" to base hiring and firing decisions as well as granting credit wishes or not by the silly stuff we post on entertainment places like Facebook. In my opinion, this is way wrong. These people are not using a good sources to base their decisions. What if you just want someplace to let your hair down in private?

                      I was told a long time ago to avoid having a picture taken of yourself holding a drink. I remember the hell I went through when my mother found a picture of me with a cigarette in my lips for a joke. I am a staunch anti-smoker and railed against my parents' habits.

                      I keep my facebook page limited to who I allow see it, and don't allow apps. In fact my profile picture is an enhanced version of the facebook annonymous avatar we all get.
