  • I suppose that this is a bad time to mention that my dad had TWO vasectomies...and neither of them were effective. My baby sister was born three years after the first one; my baby brother, two years after the second one. Mom's tubal ligation finally stopped the vicious cycle!! I think A and J were just meant to be.

    • Ladies, I thought I'd chime in with some recent discoveries.

      I ate more sweet potatoes preceding my last period, and tried to get more seaweed in me. While my cramps still weren't great, they were still of a lesser pain level. The rest of my period went pretty smoothly, and lightly as well. I usually have very heavy periods at the start.

      I'm going to continue doing this and see how my rag behaves as the months go by. I still feel food is everything when it comes to all health, especially your Aunt Flo!

        He went in for the testing, had a 0 count in May 2011 and Aug 2011. So while I'm not 100% I suppose, would that be possible? We got pregnant VERY easily with both children - first month with #1 and second month with #2. The scary thing is I feel like something is coming, but it's not and that's EXACTLY how I felt both times I was pregnant. If nothing by Friday I may just have to pick up a test when we're out getting DH's bday present.

        • I'm safe, but a 34 day cycle! And the days leading up I was exhausted. I have to figure out this energy issue at the end of my cycle.

          • Got in 45 minutes of walking yesterday, so on track with my self challenge. My youngest son and GF get in today with a list of favorite places and family recipes he wants her to try. I know I can eat PB out, but the home dishes will require some thought. I've taken almost two weeks off from the clinic and it's been nice. I love what I do, but sometimes the screaming all day gets to me and there is no way to avoid it when it's shot time! I've also gained extra time in my day since I don't have a 2 hour commute. Between the two, I've been sleeping well and have not woken up at 2am for a couple of days. Thanks for listening all, just knowing your out there helps!

              Do NOT complain about your cycle getting longer. Mine got much shorter when I was pre-menopausal and I ended up with catastrophically low iron levels. Scary low. Trust me, you do not want to be there. Good luck in figuring out the energy thing.

                GREAT JOB on the walking! I'm right there with you - I walked another 2 3/4 miles today! Takes me right at 45 minutes also. Keep going! Are you keeping track of it? I started a log - and I log every mile I walk or bike. Since Jan 1 I've logged 130 miles. Thats ALMOST a mile for every day of the year so far. I let about a month go by without getting out cuz the weather was so crumby - but I'm making up for lost time now! At the end of year - I'm giving myself a dollar for every mile I log - hopefully I will be at my goal weight by then and will get LOTS of new clothes! YEAH!

                I can understand the need to have some time away from the screaming kids at the clinic......... I couldn't never work in that environment. Crying kids sets my nerves on end! I'm assuming the change in commute time means you have moved closer to work - so thats a big plus! Sounds like things are going well for you! I love hearing the accomplishments of others! Its gives me a boost with every one I read! Thanks for sharing!

                  I've not been tracking, but that's a great idea. I've promised myself if I can get in the 150s I can get a new programmable crock pot. Commute time is 1 hour each way and the taking off of two weeks has given me more time. I do two days a week at the local clinic and teach full time on line. When I go to El Paso, I put in time at my full time job, 24-36 hours at the military hospital and 1-3 nights at a pediatric night clinic. So the time off feels so good!

                  • Hi ladies, I will join this thread with your permission. 27 years old and in Western Canada here, full-time in medical school, single, and primal x 1 month. I used to be very obese at 220 lbs, then had weightloss surgery after battling with my weight my entire life. Hit 140-145, started Crossfit last year, then went primal and now down to 135-136 or so. Not really looking to lose much weight or anything at this point, it's more of a health thing for me right now.

                        You are one BUSY girl! May I ask --- WHY you have taken on such a load? Are you just that Type A personality that must be go-go-go all the time? Or...... the type that doesn't know when to say 'NO'??? I wonder if you are just spreading yourself way too thin!

                          Thwew. Honestly, though, if it keeps up you might want to get checked up. Or not. Some people on the forums go a little nuts when you suggest they talk to a doctor about this stuff.

                          My cycles totally normalized on paleo. Even my cramping reduced. I still bottom out the morning before my period (reduced energy, headaches, a need to eat every ounce of chocolate in sight), but otherwise it comes, it goes, and life continues at normal.

                            Welcome! No "permission" needed If that is you in your picture...... I am green with envy! Nice going! From obese to rockin' abs! There is hope for me yet......... okay - I'll never look like that. But, I give you my biggest congrats on the progress and success that you've made!

                            • I'm getting back on track! Have had several days of really good eating - and walking! My legs are a bit sore from 2 days of going 2 3/4 miles. But I will not let up! I've pooped around too long with being a weanie and not wanting to go walk in the rain! Okay - in my own defense, it really isn't the rain, it was the cold. Fibromyalgia and cold don't mix well. So, I stayed in the house where it was warm. But I can't use that excuse now cuz the temps are in the 50's and that is plenty warm enough to throw on a jacket and go for a nice brisk walk. And that is where I'm going right now! Yeah ME!

                              Come on, Ladies! Get out there!!!!

                              PHEW!!! all done with the whole 2 3/4 miles!!! I wasn't sure if I would make it cuz my stomach starting cramping - but I figured out it wasn't "issues", just hunger pangs! So, breakfast of champions for me!!!! the rest of the salmon that I cooked for dinner last night. I've now had salmon - 4 meals in a row! I'm wondering if I could ever get sick of salmon???? I strongly doubt it! Dinner will have to be chicken I guess. Not nearly as good............

                                Part type A and part necessity. When I went to teaching full time I took a 50% pay cut and part of my value as an instructor is having a clinical practice. Now that we've sold the house in El Paso, I'm cutting back slowly at the local clinic. Interviewing for a local university, which would stop the commuting to El Paso, so fingers crossed. .........
