  • Slimcado? Not On My Table!!

    The Slimcado

I saw these in the store this morning. They are about 4 times the size of an ordinary avocado.
They frighten me. I want all the avocado fat, not this GMO monster.

"Brooks Tropicals markets its avocados through an innovative concept. While the most common avocado consumed in the U.S. is the Hass avocado, Brooks Tropicals grows and packs a range of avocado varieties called SlimCados, which share one common characteristic: they have up to half the fat and a third fewer calories than the leading California avocado."
    "Wait! I'll fix it!"
"Problems always disappear in the presence of a technician."
"If you can't improvise, what are you doing out in the field?"

As someone who eats an avacado for breaksfast with just a spoon a lot of the time I think I will be staying away from this thing.

I bought them by accident a few weeks ago. I just thought ''wow huge avocados''. I saw they were reduced in calories once at home. They tasted watery and horrible.

Wow that is crazy. I was at the store the other day and they had HUGE whole roasting chickens that did NOT look normal. I went there because the ad said buy one get one free. When I got there I was so shocked and grossed out because they did not look even humanly normal for any person to consume plus they were 15 bucks! Do they just grow mutant chickens and fruits and veggies in a lab or something? I have never seen a chicken that size for sale anywhere ever. It was whack. I am still appalled to this day lol
I'm too stubborn to give up so I keep on trying.

You're never going to get to the top of the stairs if you don't walk up them.

I eat an avocado a day. I will avoid these.

I'm surprised I haven't seen anyone marketing a fat-free avocado yet. Some day, I'm sure.

Get a grip people. This is not a GMO avocado. The Haas avocado you are all familiar with are all cuttings from one single tree some dentist grew. This other avocado is just another variety with a stupid name chosen for marketing purposes.

I have 8 40-foot avocados on my property. The Haas are all rich and creamy. The Mexicana are small, black with very little meat and skin that cracks and they are virtually inedible (it grew up from the root stock after the graft died.) The bacon avocados are as big as nerf footballs and are less creamy, more watery and my favorite. You may have heard of the fuerte avocado which does not turn black when it ripens. There are dozens of different varieties and you can't even grow an orchard all of a single variety because of the bizarre way that the flowers open and close for pollination. This is just a way to get people to eat one of the less desired varities and nothing more.

Yes, this is not a conspiracy or a franken-food, just re-marketing an existing fruit.

Why do they want to mess with the beautiful green monster? I mean, avos are like the perfect balance of fat, carbs, and protein in the plant world! *sad*
