Can you believe that sl*t freelee is sleeping with him? If I were a woman I wouldn't trust being naked in front of a guy like that with a camera. You know all that porn is going on the internet.

This dweeb has a site called 30 Bananas a Day which is what he claims to eat. Fruitarian nonsense but good for a laugh if you have nothing better to do. The first time I saw it I actually thought it must be some MDA person doing an elaborate spoof. He couldn't really be serious. But he is.

I agree - what is more surprising is the issue paleos have with vegans. Your breakdown puts it into perspective... It seems that both sides misunderstand each other or make false assumptions. It's easy to demonize paleos if you (incorrectly) assume that, as meat eaters, they support conventionally-raised animals and factory farming.

What's more interesting is the hostility of the Paleos towards the raw vegans.

          I chalk it up to:
          1. Defensiveness from the raw vegans' attacks.
          2. Not really understanding how much common ground there is between the two WsOE.
          3. "Banana boy" (he who shall remain unnamed) acting like a complete nutjob and, thus, turning everyone on MDA off.
          4. Not understanding that there are different styles of a raw vegan diet, and the Paleos only think it's 80/10/10 (also known as 8-1-1)--very high carb/extremely low fat. They don't know about the low-glycemic variation or even the gourmet version (which is too nut-heavy for moi), which are totally different and are definitely higher fat/lower carb.

I think it's interesting that some of the raw vegan leaders are starting to eat high-raw Paleo now, and some of the Paleos are starting to eat high raw. We're all meeting in the middle.
Yes, after the nutritional deficiencies take their toll, it is heartening to see raw vegans being to incorporate some amount of meat into their diet. I haven't read "Beyond Broccoli" yet, but just ordered it. It looks like a great read.

The thought of stuffing 30 bananas down my gullet makes me nauseous... And how is that sustainable?

Of all foods, bananas are an interesting choice given the fact that the Cavendish may be headed the way of the dinosaur.

To many of us who eat meat, vegans and a lesser extent vegetarians are murdering Gaia by depriving her of the fertilizer she must have.

To me, The Vegetarian Myth by Liere Keith and Vegan No More by Tasha sum things up perfectly. Both were vegan evangelists. Both almost died from veganism. Both converted to meat eating. Both got death threats from vegan terrorists. See my blog for links.

I used to be vegan. I only hate the vegan terrorists. But veganism and vegetarianism are wrong headed and they are helping destroy the earth.
                Yeah... that.

I've worked in a couple really contentious fields, and had the misfortune of dealing with vegan terrorists.
When you're locked in that hard to an ideology that helps define your world in a very concrete way, it's extremely painful to think through other possibilities and most folks just aren't wiling to leave a place of moral comfort and do the work in any active way. Eco-vegans and eco-primalists want the same things and have plenty of common ground to relate to each other. It's the militant vegans who would rather mow down a thousand rabbits in a grain field than accept any active consumption of animal foods, and the "f*k the cows" carnivores that don't care where their meat comes from that are problematic. I think people at both extremes have other reasons for being that way than what you might call "thoughtful consideration of the issue at hand"... but boy the spread of eco-primal eating, the Slow Food Network, locavorism, etc. is *really* starting to freak out the militant ones. A wide swath of veggies are easily on board with the animal welfare argument (as are plenty of primalists), but when the discussion really just boils down to PETA ideology people start to jump ship in droves. That's why PETA-type vegans *really* hate the primal movement. It blows away the smokescreeen that all that noise is really about animal welfare. Hint: it's not. But Wayne Pacelle, Ingrid Newkirk & co. make a metric f*k-ton of money with the illusion that it is ;0)

Mixie, this is a very interesting point and makes a great deal of sense. Thanks for your input!

Oh, yeah... PETA/HSUS are *really* hurting right now; HSUS especially depends on grandma sending in her $20 every month believing that it's going to help puppies and kitties at animal shelters. Most folks up until fairly recently believed that HSUS is a national animal shelter front group. With the spread of whole-food ways of eating, more and more people are beginning to understand that there are other ways to combat the horrors of industrial animal agriculture and address issues of sustainability that don't depend on eliminating domestic and livestock animals from human society (which of course is impossible). Also that a rat is not a dog is not a pig is not a boy.
Wayne Pacelle and Ingrid Newkirk loose a lot of moral high ground in the paleo/primal discussion, and that means revenue stream... big time.

In all of the universe there is only one person with your exact charateristics. Just like there is only one person with everybody else's characteristics. Effectively, your uniqueness makes you pretty average.

I disagree. I see a LOT of people here who treat it like religion.
