  • Mystery Bloat?

I was hoping to get some insight from anyone on why I seem to get bloated EVERY DAY probably for the past month

I mostly eat paleo, I do cook some of my food in butter and will sometimes have a little greek yogurt as a little treat.

I keep my carbs below 100 every day, shoot for below 75. Carbs come from fresh fruit and veggies

I do have one scoop of high quality unsweetened whey each morning but I feel like the bloat really doesn't hit until the end of the day.

Any ideas? It's driving me nuts!

(Speaking of nuts, I rarely eat them)

Sounds like you need to do some elimination to see what is happening. I'd start with the whey, especially if that's the only thing that's the same each day you get bloated.

she gets the bloat much later, i don't think it's the whey.

from the things you listed, i suspect this greek yogurt. the ingredients, i do not trust them. go without this yogurt for a few days, report back.

Unfortunately it could be anything, just depends on your body... I second an elimination diet. Cut out certain foods one by one for a few days- a week and note how you feel. I'd personally start with whey, then dairy, then individual fruits and vegetables.

the whey, you keep it. cut the yogurt and you will win, i guarantee this.

Dump the yogurt, whey & fruits, ABSOLUTELY no snacks between meals - ever. All carbs should be dark green in color, or Sweet Potato.

Do this for 4 weeks to see if you don't improve dramatically.

It could be either one or both or neither. You have no way of knowing. And insulting Heather for no reason just makes you look like a jerk.

who is this dado person? i'm literally cracking up from their posts.. so ridiculous.

looks like i'm going to start with cutting out the whey. such a bummer because i make this little whey "pancake" every morning and it's so easy to get a ton of protein (i love sweet in the morning). it's a scoop of whey, an egg, half a banana and whatever spices you want. so delicious. but i want to get rid of the bloat so i'll cut it out and see if it helps.

i literally have yogurt probably once a week and no other day. i'll try cutting out the whey first and see how it goes.

thanks for all the responses, love this community!

Well hopefully the whey is not the cause, and you can add it back in and enjoy!

When you cut yogurt, are there other diary sources you are eating regularly that you may need to cut? I only ask because although I like dairy it does not make me feel optimal, no matter if its milk, cheese, yogurt, etc. Something to consider, as it would suck to cut yogurt but then forget another source and then end up not knowing what is causing the bloat after all!

I'm cutting out the whey for a week to see if that might be it. I don't eat any other dairy beside the occasional yogurt... I really should probably just cut the yogurt too because like you, I don't feel optimal with any type of dairy.

I'm the same way about dairy. It's not full blow lactose intolerance in the digestive agony sense, just a general bloatiness and stuffed up sinuses. I like to be able to breath out of both nostrils at the same time. I try to remind myself of this when that brie looks so yummy.
