  • Body by Science - Doug McGuff

Does the book go into the science behind his methods? I've watched a couple of his videos on YouTube and think he does a great job explaining the science so that it's easy to understand.

Yep, particularly the need for adequate recovery time. It's quite in depth.

chapter 1. defining health fitness & exercise
    chapter 2. global metabolic conditioning
chapter 3. the dose response relationship of exercise
    chapter 4. the big-five workout
chapter 5. the benefits of the big five workout
chapter 6. enhancing the body's response to exercise
chapter 7. tweaking the exercise stimulus
    chapter 8. the genetic factor
chapter 9. the science of fat loss
chapter 10. the ideal training program for athletes
chapter 11. the ideal training program for seniors

When you know why to exercise, you'll know how to exercise. BBS explains both.

If by science you mean studies done on untrained college students only, then yes. There was a long thread on this before, where it was pointed out that none of his studies use people who are trained. If you are untrained and plan on staying that way, BBS is great.
