I support Obama, but I still think it was funny.

You could replace Obama with Bush and still make the same point.

(Shh...Nobody tell him Ronald Reagan raised taxes, expanded the federal deficit and debt, overthrew a couple foreign governments, supported cocaine-dealing terrorists, and tried to make ketchup a "vegetable.")

err tried??...I am certain he succeeded in that little endeavor. Ketchup has been an approved veggie for awhile.

is that not the typical actions of a president?

                      That is sorta funny.

                        Interesting thread title though.

What was going on in August 1986? What do I remember? (Nothing specifically.) What was in the news?—and what of that was really significant (as opposed to something someone wanted you to hear and had helpfully sent in to the newspapers)? And what was kept out of "the news"?

I tried googling under "August 1986" and found nothing much. I tried Wikipedia (I know!).

August 20 – In Edmond, Oklahoma, United States Postal Service employee Patrick Sherrill guns down 14 of his co-workers before committing suicide.
Ah, now that's interesting. It's also relevant to this place ... because ... I wonder, Was he on SSRIs?

Suicidality, violence and mania caused by selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs): A review and analysis:

                        IOS Press - Journal Article

That's something you won't have seen much of in the news. Important, though. I guess the "suicidality, violence and mania" is still going on, like it was 25 years ago. Plus ça change ...

And SSRIs may be one reason. And really depression is much better treated by a low-carb whole foods diet together with appropriate supplementation and supply of the appropriate precursors to any neurotransmitters found to be lacking in an individual—perhaps together with some biofeedback or something of the sort.

Many very important events. For instance, I was born.

They are, unfortunately. But its ironic that the right-wing of the American political system idealizes this man as the paragon of fiscal conservatism, defender of freedom, and a straight-talker, when his record points to the contrary.

you'd be hard pressed to find a politician other than ron paul whose record matches their rhetoric
