  • Primal Cruise 2011 - Who's Game?

I just thought of a fabulous idea. How AWESOME would it be if 100 cavemen/cavewomen all went on the same cruise?! Primal Con was the best 5 days of my life. But, um... can we beat it? Maybe?

Let's do it. I am going. I don't care if its just me or me and 99 others. If we have a group of 100, or even 20 then we should be able to get a crazy ass deal.

My Grand Rapids Primal Tribe meetup group is going to be awesome. We are going to go on hikes, go backpacking, camping, run barefoot, play ultimate, have potlucks, play on the playground, etc. I even hope to take some people up to mackinac island and go to a Tigers game.

That will all be sweet and I can't wait. But, a CRUSE?! Let's go. I am 100% serious. Who is on board with me?

I will probably look to go late this year. Say October or November. It depends on how many cavemen/cavewomen I recruit in the Spring and Summer. Help me out!

Their is a LOW CARB cruise. I want a PRIMAL cruise!

It would be awesome. However, considering I couldn't afford PrimalCon, I highly doubt I could afford a cruise.

Depends on the port and the cost

Since the West Coast got spoiled with PrimalCon, have the cruise start on the East Coast!

Unless I quit my job (which I'm hoping to ) I only have 2 vacation days left for this year. Bummer...

The cost of Primal Con from me approached 2 Grand. A 4 night cruise would be waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay cheaper. Cruises are cheap. If we get 100 of us and pay together somehow then my guess is we can get a crazy deal.

If you do it right, then the cost could be as little has 500 to 700 for 4 nights.

LOL for some of us that's half a month's pay or more.

Start saving! If it happens and if 100 seems possible then I may do a giveaway on my blog for 1-2 lucky winner(s). Stay tuned. I'll be throwing ideas at this thread over the next few weeks.

Its going to happen. I am 110% certain

I am definitely interested, but already have my time/money/travel commitments planned out into 2013...

I've been on a cruise with a group of belly dancers who all went into it together. We went to Cozumel, Mexico. We decided upon it a year in advance and could make small monthly payments to the travel agency that was coordinating everything. Surprisingly cheap. (We snuck our alcohol in.) HAD A BLAST, ate like a cow, best food ever, too hung over to make it through dance class, casino and karaoke, free 24-hour room service, went up to the deserted top deck in the middle of the night and ooh'd and aww'd at a sky that looked like it was blanketed in diamonds with multiple shooting stars and kissed people we weren't supposed to be kissing, treated like royalty and entertained and charmed by an excellent crew. Water and beach at Cozumel so beautiful it made me cry. Good times.

I wish I could go, but it's not in our financial capabilities atm. If you want to have a party, go on Carnival! Royal Carribbean's got better quality food IMO, but Carnival is more fun.

May I ask how much exactly? I am curious to know if you don't mind. I am going to make this happen.

@Todd: It was years ago, so I can't recall exactly, but I wanna say in the range of maybe $400 per person for a 4-night cruise in a basic interior room. (We had four in our room, which is too crowded; three would be more doable.) Factor in inflation x7-8 years. The cruise itself is surprisingly cheap (especially when you consider that all food and room service and much of the entertainment is included.) Where they really get you is alcohol and on-board shopping and photos (which are all optional, if you're on a tight budget). This was on Carnival, which is like a party boat for the masses ("the Wal-Mart of cruise lines"). Not luxury like Norwegian, but spotlessly clean with superb waitstaff and the food was fantastic.

ETA: If you could give folks more lead time and find a travel agency to go through that has a monthly or quarterly payment plan available, I think more people would be able to do this.
