  • That primitive look

A friend gave me a coffee-table book about the people of the Nile. This picture really jumped out at me. She is either Sudanese or Nubian. Either way, if this is not a primitive look, I don't know what is.

    I think I'm in love!

Sorry for the crappy quality. I don't have access to a color scanner here and I could not find the picture on the internet. And the page was already kind of beat up. Shot this with my camera.

Anybody else got some good primitive photos they want to share?

She is wearing the traditional head dress for her area. Your right her shirt does look modern. But if your judging primitive from her clothing, your missing my point. Like someone said, the eyes are windows to the soul.

I get what you are saying, TexasGrok. The eyes, the mouth, the cheekbones, the slimness, her beautiful, healthy, smooth skin, almost a feral look. She is beautiful in her own way.

Looks scared? Your right, we are seeing things differently. Cool links and pictures you posted for Papua New Guinea & West Papua. Looks like my kind of vacation. A bit pricey but would be fun.

I agree, she looks like she was caught crying.

Or maybe she's thinking, "Who does this foul-smelling white devil think he is, pointing that camera at me?"

I guess I can see that too... "Seriously dude, take one more picture of me, and I'll make sure it's the last one you ever take."

Looks to me like she's ready to eat the photographer's face off.

You need a serious dose of some Weston Price.

Once you get used to how a face unmarred by modern nutrition looks, you start spotting it in crowds. Truly beautiful. (the down side is, you start seeing the marks of poor pre-conception nutrition in everyone you know, including yourself and your own children, and ...ouch. It really hurts.)

Is there any hope of improving facial bone structure past age 18?

She is beautiful, but then I think all faces unmarred by modern living are. I hate the idea of judging her appearance by our standards, I'd like her to be unsullied by that particularly unsavoury aspect of modern living as well! She does look scared to me.
