SA Queen, I'm hungry. Guaranteed. Just nothing sounds appealing. I think "Fish? meh. Steak? Meh. Burger? Meh." I thought I'd be starving this morning (only had 800 cals yesterday, due to some stomach pain), so I'm already on a 16 hour natural fast, and should eat something (and my stomach wants something), but nothing is jiving.
I loved naiadknight's response. Thanks for the LOL. I guess it's better than nothing.
I always tell kids that if they're not hungry enough to eat the snack I brought (whatever it is) then they must not be that hungry. I apply the same rule to myself :P If I don't want anything, then I just don't eat for a while (and there's nothing wrong with fasting for longer than 16 hours).
I know it's not that helpful, but that's truly what I do! Then again, I don't have the financial freedom to go the store and buy whatever I'm in the mood for, but if I could do that I guess that's what I'd do.
Sometimes I will just sit hungry for a while until something starts to appeal - usually sipping on some water at the same time. Eventually SOMETHING strikes you as "oh, now THAT I could eat". Otherwise just decide to start making something and your stomach will get on board eventually. Bacon does sound good!
Dr. bork- i know how you feel. i know from experience that i *should* eat, because if i don't at that point i will become so hungry later that i end up pigging out on carbs. but, NOTHING looks yummy. it feels like i'm so hungry that no food could possibly satiate me. anyway, drinking some hot tea usually helps, and then i eat something (anything) even if i have to choke it down. i have no clue why this happens to me, but hopefully that helps.
Yes, thank you, Saoirse, exactly! Every once in a blue moon I get like this. Normally it doesn't lead to a carb binge, per se, but I do get in a funk and start taking it out on others. Nobody deserves the wrath of a cranky mom unless it's genuinely warranted.
I get like that a lot. Typically, I just won't eat because I refuse to force myself to eat just because of some idea that I "should." So I just let my body not eat until I see something that appeals to me and then I eat. Sometimes, I'll not feel like eating, then cook something for the boys and once it's done, it sounds good. So, sometimes, I think it's just mental and other times it's physical.
I'd say just don't bother if you don't feel like it. At some point, something is going to look good.
I tend to eat similar meals quite often, which is good and bad. The bad is when I feel like having NONE of those, or anything for that matter. When that happens I make myself something to drink, like tea, and I just add some heavy cream to it. It’s weird but sometimes I’ll be really hungry, but not in the mood to actually EAT. Usually this is also coupled with no cravings for any specific food, but the act of eating itself sometimes feels like a chore (this is once in a blue moon) so when that happens I make the aforementioned tea with cream.
