I've only seen a handful of her cooking shows, and one minute she's making a great dish with lots of meat, fat etc. and I'm thinking "mmmm", then the next it's sugar everywhere! But still, some good ideas to primal'ise I guess.
If you're interested in my (very) occasional updates on how I'm working out and what I'm eating click here.
i watch a lot of cooking shows, and most of them are actually meat-fat and veggie, and then they make a dessert. the dessert is usually a massive mess of sugar and i've never done a dessert recipe from one of these shows.
but, they are nicer than the cheap crap that most people whom i know make for desserts--like "dirt pudding" which is condensed milk, chocolate icing, chocolate pudding, and crushed oreos, sometimes with gummy worms inside. nice one. often times, cool whip--everyone's favorite chemical slurry--is in there too for good measure. honestly, i don't know how people don't immediately fall into comas on that stuff, but my MIL loves to make it. it's her favorite. blech.
I find this comparison very unfair! Gillian McKeith's photo was taken while she was participating in "I am a celebrity, get me out of here" - stuck in the jungle, without make up and washing facilities and totally freaked out because the public always nominated her for the trials. Furthermore, she is a vegan.
Nigella is shown completely made up, wearing a very flattering dress. Nonetheless, she is a size 14-16 (UK), that's a size 10-12 (US). She is gorgeous, but overweight!
I don't like either - Gillian gets on my nerves with her voice alone, notwithstanding what she actually says and Nigella is promoting food porn :-)
Bush tucker trials are challenges where the candidate (Gillian had to do it - I think - 8 times!) has to eat the food that's served...crocodile eyes, penis, bugs and worms etc. There are always a few courses of that food and every course eaten means, that he/she stars. If the candidate only eats one course, that might translate to 5 portions of food for 10 candidates....apparently Gillian never saw the show before and as a vegan was shocked at having to do this, thus delighting the public who then voted for her to do it again and again and again...
Btw, you cannot pretend to eat the food as your mouth is checked after completion of a course...
Gillian had tv shows re nutrition and used to study people's poo, worked as Dr G McKeith, until it was found out that she kind of bought her doctor title from some dubious school of alternative treatments...she agreed to drop the "Dr" to salvage her TV career, but hasn't been seen much since then...she is certainly not a good ad for veganism with her run down, skinny looks
Re Nigella - just saw her food porn - "these lucious, scarlet juices mingling with the french toast...." (describing cranberry juice used in poaching plums)...she dresses very well and is a gorgeous hourglass, but nonetheless overweight.
Both of them are good for a laugh but not to be taken (too) seriously.
Even her website photoshopped heavy makeup image is not as good as nigella. Overweight according to current standards which value women with visible abs, micro waists and low bodyfat. The women in the 1970's and before looked healthier since they weren't super skinny. Her figure is very similar to Christina Hendrickson of Mad Men
