Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT) -- Natural/evo approach?
Fish oil is def. useful for DVT.
I have a congenital vascular condition in one of my legs that puts me at higher risk for DVT and embolism. Here is what works for me:
Taking a vascular/circulatory formula (I like Herb Pharm Healthy Veins Tonic- great for peripheral circulation) and when I can feel inflammation and my leg starts to feel heavy and cold, liquid cayenne, taken several times/day clears it up quickly. It dilates the vascular system and can be used even in emergencies like stroke, embolism or heart attack to halt or minimize the severity. He should keep a bottle around.
I know someone who suffers DVT (nothing Dear about it). Anybody have natural suggestions? He has gone primal and is losing weight.
Off the top of my head, I am thinking D and C, fish oil.
If there is a current DVT, then medical tx is (urgently) in order. as there will be blood thinners involved, it's unwise to add anything to the current regimen.
Once the tx is complete and the immediate risk has passed, modifying Ω3:Ω6 EFA ratios is in order. Preferably via food choices, less preferable via taking fish oil.
Increasing physical activity. (less sitting....a lot less)
Emphasis on nutrients that strengthen vasculature and improve tissue integrity...ie plants, animal foods containing sufficient zinc, protein, vitamin A etc.
D certainly is neuroprotective so gd forbid this person should throw a clot, better D levels will likely = better outcome. Ditto for better progesterone levels (or so it seems)
