Mol - surprised you didn't know this! Aren't you aware of the govt's 'Change4Life' scheme/programme? Want to know the 7 main sponsors?

      Nestle
      Cadbury's
      Maccy D's
      Pepsi
      Coke
      Kellogg's
      Walkers

In fact Kellogg's ran a campaign recently (there was a big poster on the bus stop down the road here) encouraging mums to feed their kids Coco Pops/Coco Rocks/Coco Whatever as a healthy after-school snack, because it was 'high in fibre (referring to Coco Rocks which are wholegrain) low in salt and a good source of B vitamins, iron and calcium (when served with whole milk).

Ya, right; it's FORTIFIED with vitamins, minerals and iron - and you know what that means...? It means that without it's nutritionally devoid.

I always roll my eyes when Walker's/Cadbury's/Nestle run a 'Get Kids Active' campaign (Nestle's was the latest. In order to collect enough tokens for one free footie training session, for example, your average 10 year old would have had to have eaten his way through about 100kg of cereal, or drunk about 100 gallons of Nesquik - after which, he'll be too obese to be able to play football!)

Yes, it's scary - even more so because it's govt endorsed. But it's 100% true.

I cried. There is no hope for our kids - especially when they're being encouraged to eat crap to help their schools (remember the Walker's and Cadbury's 'eat our shit to help your school get sports kit' campaigns?)

I almost emailed the govt, to point out the irony, but I didn't bother - it'd be wasted on them... <SIGH>

It really is beginning to look like they want to kill us all off at 50-55, in order to save the pension bill.

It's time to unleash the bacon.

It's sad but explains a lot of things.

            It's April 1st. It's April 1st. Repeat after me, it's April 1st.

            Feeling better yet?

Governments don't tend to have much of a sense of irony, but this really does take the low-fat, high-fibre, whole-grain biscuit.

              I dunno, I kinda liked KFC's double-down.
You lousy kids! Get off my savannah!

I don't know much about UK politics. From what I understand, a "liberal" in the UK is someone who is for smaller government? I have heard of the UKIP. The UKIP, if I'm not mistaken, is like the Ron Paul Tea Party in America (excluding Sarah Palin branch.) Other than the UKIP, everyone else in politics over there seems loony to me.

Is this the government playing the parental role of "YOU made this mess, YOU clean it up!"? Forgetting that there were millions of people, including experts, contributing enthusiastically to the mess.
                  Liz.

Zone diet on and off for several years....worked, but too much focus on exact meal composition
Primal since July 2010...skinniest I've ever been and the least stressed about food

I like this one to sum up the debt/deficit/house prices/pensions/quantitive easing/etc. mess:
