  • Cry for help

I've fallen back into some very destructive eating disorder habits and need some help getting back into the primal WOL.

I'll be starting my journal back up, and trying to eat more, and once I have my eating back up to a realistic place, I'd like to tackle the primal workouts.

Just thought I'd post this for accountability...

    (Missed you all!)

Awww. Keep coming here for support.

Hey Momma! Happy to see you here. I'll be watching for blog updates and will post there. Hang in there. Staying active on the board provides such support when the food gets wobbly.

                EarthMomma,

May I ask what destructive eating disorder habits are? If we knew I think we could help you even more.

                Best to you,

                    LEM!!! (((HUGS!!!!!!!!)))

You are one of the most inspiring mamas I know. You've inspired me and many others from MDC to check out MDA and give primal living a try, and your foodporn-like descriptions of your kitchen wizardry always has us all drooling and motivated to get in the kitchen and attempt to mimic your concoctions. I hope you (or someone who loves you) is back in there making some of those delish and super healthy meals to nourish *you*!!

I hope you are feeling ok, and are already on a healing path back to eating more. Do you have support IRL? Are you still going to school? If so, *maybe* you need to take a break from it all, *for you*? I just don't think there is anything more important than your health, and I know you've got A LOT on your plate w/ the fam and university etc...

Thinking of you mama!!!!!!! Sending (((((love))))) your way!!!!!

This could have been me talking, LEM! I was going to post something very similar this morning; maybe we should start a 'Primal Support Group'...? That way, anyone who's in need of a gentle nudge, or a damned swift kick up the backside*, could post there...

Thank you all so much, I was so nervous posting this after being MIA for a while.

The destructive habits I've fallen back into were still primal in a way (no grains, no sugar, no processed food) but my calories were between 300-500/day and no fat. I just sort of lost it with University and trying to keep my household together.

But yesterday I had such a bad day, no energy, no brain function, emotional wreck and I passed out. So I reached out for help, asking my hubby and my best friend to help me because I just can't do this on my own any more.

My hubby is so supportive and his advice was to delve back into primal living, since I was so happy and healthy when I was living primal. He loves living primal too so I have a good motivator.

Now I just need to get back to it!

I guess my cry for help was just asking for accountability, support and advice.

                        Guess I'll start with:
How many calories should I be aiming for?
The more I see the less I know for sure.

I don't know your story outside of this thread but maybe focus on just eating and not worry about cals right now? Sounds like you weren't eating a thing at 300-500 cals.
I used to seriously post here, now I prefer to troll.

Welcome back! I always find that the more I'm reading about paleo/primal topics, the more compliant I am. Maybe it would help for you to pick up a few books to keep you focused on why all this matters?

So so glad to see you are asking for help!!

                              Guess I'll start with:
How many calories should I be aiming for?
IDK enough about calories, but I would totally make sure to get in more fat, and more of everything!!! Maybe you are not feeling reliable hunger cues atm? I hope someone else will have more direction on this one, but maybe shoot for a *minimum* of 1500 cals?? Are you still nursing? Kellymom has this to say about calories and nursing, fwiw: http://www.kellymom.com/nutrition/mo...es-fluids.html
Studies have shown that most healthy breastfeeding women maintain an abundant milk supply while taking in 1800-2200 (or more) calories per day. Consuming less than 1500-1800 calories per day (most women should stay at the high end of this range) may put your milk supply at risk, as may a sudden drop in caloric intake.
Here is another link on calories and women in case it helps: http://www.bcm.edu/cnrc/consumer/arc...s_of_women.htm
The study showed that current suggested daily caloric intakes for healthy women of childbearing age living in industrialized societies need to be revised, based on women's BMIs. Low-, normal- and high-BMI groups used varying amounts of energy, ranging from about 2,100 to 2,700 calories--8.9 to 11.5 megajoules--per day. A joule is a measure of work or energy. The findings were published in the March issue of the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition.
Again, I really don't know enough about this. I personally don't count calories, and would typically say eat till you are satisfied, but this is a unique situation.

Again, (((HUGS))) LEM, and lots of love your way!!!
