  • Sweet chestnuts - good or not?

    I don't suppose sweet roasted chestnuts are very primal? I bought some yesterday at a farmer's market and yes they are rich and filling and very starchy. Damn they were good but probably too high in carbs but then I would only eat them occasionally as a treat,
    I think they fall in the 52-70% carb ratio.
    Does anyone else eat them?

    I love them and will eat them when Trader Joe's gets them back in the fall. You can even eat them raw (but I like roasted).

      I would eat them, except they're a huge carb hit for me. Plus, I could eat WAY more than four ounces.
      They ARE delicious, though. Maybe you cook roast them, chop them up, and use a few as a topping on some roasted veggies?

        At least they're low in fat, which means very little PUFA's. I would eat them on a carb up day.

          High carb but I'm looking forward to autumn when I can get hold of some and put them with pork and fresh-off-the-tree apples and.... *drool*
