  • Is Sweet Potato every day bad?

    Hi all,

I'm currently including 1 Sweet Potato at breakfast (grated and fried in Coconut oil) every day.

Once or twice a week I will also make some Sweet Potatoes chips to cook in the oven to go with a Steak.

I'm only concerned as this has developed into a bit of a routine...just want to make sure its not a bit OTT with the Sweet Potatoes?

    Thanks in advance...

If you're in doubt, just stop it for one week or 2 and resume

If you feel good and look good there is no reason to stop. I eat certain types of food every day.
      ------
HCLF: lean red meat, eggs, low-fat dairy, bone broth/gelatin, fruits, seafood, liver, small amount of starch (oatmeal, white rice, potatoes, carrots), small amount of saturated fat (butter/ghee/coconut/dark chocolate/cheese).

It's pretty good for you, just do go about eating pounds of it and you'd be fine.

        It's apparently anti-inflammatory, which is a bonus.

Answer: Unless you are allergic to them, an emphatic no. Eat away.

I eat purple skin-white fleshed sweet potatoes and pumpkin on a daily basis. My 2 favourite comfourting foods.

It's not good for me because sweet potato (and turnips) make me tired and sluggish. But if you're not feeling ill effects, it's probably just fine for you.

It's sugar -- so should probably take into consideration if the person has high blood sugar, triglycerides and central obesity. Mark recommends no for people who want to lose weight, otherwise yes.

You could literally eat sweet potato for every meal and still be healthy.

I eat 1-2 lbs of Japanese Sweet Potatoes daily with .5 tablespoon of pastured butter on each of them. I have been doing for roughly 6 months? I need them. I don't eat any fruit or nuts so if these sugary miracles coated in butter are not the best than so be it. All I know is that they enabled me to recover super fast and help me kill it during workouts

In the sense that a optimal diet should be a little more diverse like eating standard potatoes or white rice occassionally eating only sweet potatoes instead is probably very healthy anyway. So dont bother if you feel good eating those all the time.

It is definitely personal preference. If I have too many sweet potatoes my allergies and sinuses start to act up and my sleep deteriorates. I limit them to once a week with lunch, pretty much a refeed day. Some people work better with more, some with less.

I think certain regions of New Guinea get 80% kcal from sweet potato. Their lifespan isn't great but they don't get the modern diseases.

It seems to me it should all be in how you feel. If you feel amazing, go for it. The only thing you would want to remeber is that they do have more carbs/sugar than other things you could choose. As long as your in your proper place on the carb chart you are all good. I love them myself but since I like to keep myself low on sugar in take they are a once a week thing for me.

I don't think its necessarily bad... I could eat it daily (but I don't lol) and it wouldn't affect my health unfavorably.
