  • Getting super-tired after certain food?

    Hi!

I am 'of course' getting tired after eating.
But i am getting tired like cracy after eating: Spaghetti (with olive oil and meat)
Yesterday i went to bed 4 hours earlier than usual and fell asleep after i ate spaghetti.

(also: another food that makes me especially tiresome is chicken [pre-marinated, from the supermarket]).

    Any ideas, comments..? - Appreciated!

After a week gluten free I had a pack of 2 minute noodles. Felt very sleepy with 1/2 hr of having them, for lunch.
I don't know if it was the gluten or other part of the wheat or what but won't be repeating it anytime soon

In Our society this has established to be the regular thing, however if you eat healthy this effect tends to fade
away (almost) entirely. So take this as a sign that you might want to change your eating patterns (as you do already).
Spaghetti is one of those foods which are bad in many ways, so even if you didnt have symoptoms I would have advocated
to skip spaghetti almost entirly. If you do get symptoms with spaghetti just avoid them 100%

Chicken is a different story though, quality might be just bad or something.

As a general rool of thumb just avoid any foods that make you especially tired, chances are pretty high that those
foods arent any good for you.

It's normal if you feel a little fatigued after eating a large amount of pasta. There was a spike in your blood sugar which will cause your pancreas to release a flood of insulin to convert glucose into energy or to be stored for future use. This may cause you to become tired. If you have severe fatigue, it could be hypoglycemia.

Gluten causes sleepiness, more gluten causes more sleepiness. That's why everybody falls asleep after lunch at work or after eating a Thanksgiving feast.

Check the label on the chicken. Anything pre-seasoned from the grocery store (in the U.S.) is most likely seasoned with a chemical cocktail.

I get a carb crash from any grain food - pastas, breads, cereals. Also a major crash from beans. Never feel tired after a healthy primal meal. Relaxed, yes, sleepy, no.

I only crash if I had too much sugar.
I'm off anything wheat / grain, except white rice which doesn't bother me if I don't overdo it.
Beans don't cause me to crash, just pass more gas.

For me, any meal with grains will have me wanting to take a nap within 1/2 hour.

You are getting tired from BOTH inflammation and glucose
Why do I get tired after I've slept enough?

Fast sugars or carbs on a relative empty stomach without sufficient fibers or fats to slow down absorption will spike blood sugars and then it drops suddenly making you hypoglycemic switching over to the parasympathetic nervous system and then you crash! That's the mechanisms behind this type of crash, at least to my knowledge…
