  • What 10 foods are on your no- go list?

    Along the same vein as rock star eddie's post, what 10 foods would you be just as happy to never see again?
    Grains, sugar, nonprimal foods don't count.
    Mine:
    1) eggplant
    2) smoked cheddar
    3) spaghetti squash
    4) kidneys
    5) cottage cheese
    6) green/ red cabbage (napa, savoy, etc can stay)
    7) mayonnaise
    8) peas
    9) canned button mushrooms
    Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, steak in one hand, chocolate in the other, yelling "Holy F***, What a Ride!"

      10. Coconut oil

      I prefer to reduce my risk of heart disease by avoiding high fat and high cholesterol foods and eating mostly oat and grain products. We need oats and wheat to survive. Meat really isn't necessary. Plus I don't believe in eating animals because it's wrong and not whatt nature intended.

          1. sardines (any oily canned fish, ugh!)
          2. salmon
          3. chestnuts
          4. almonds
          5. chicken feet
          6. eel
          7. broccoli
          8. lamb
          9. okra
          10. oysters

            Primal acceptable foods I have banned myself from because i go overboard:

            1) Yoghurt
            2) cream cheese
            3) dark chocolate (unless 100%)
            4) cheap salty student bacon
            5) nut butter

            and i hate

            6) kidney
            7) stinky briney tinned fish like mackerel

            8) thats all i got wow not as fussy as I once was!!

                Wow, I can't come up with ten! I haven't tried things like kidneys or liver or pickled pigs feet, however.

                1. olives
                2. mushrooms
                3. eggplant
                4. olives
                5. olives
                6. baloney (if it can even be made without chemicals...)
                7. olives
                8. bitter greens (you're not fooling me by calling them "peppery" or "assertive")
                9. coconut kefir
                10. OLIVES.

                  This is more or less my list, except that I haven't tried kidneys. Replace with beef heart. But I probably cooked it wrong.

                    Heh.

                    For me

                    1. All dairy
                    2. Most nuts and seeds. Definitely any nut or seed butters and definitely any that aren't soaked or raw
                    3. Palm oil.
                    4. Lean animal protein by itself.
                    5. Mollusks and other tiny sea animals
                    6. Citrus fruits (oranges, grapefruit, etc)

                    That's about it. Stinky fish, animal innards, most vegetation, and various fats are good with me.
                    Stabbing conventional wisdom in its face.

                          Hm. This is actually difficult. I'll eat just about anything, yes, including kidneys. Yum.

                          1. Too salty bacon.
                          2. Almond butter
                          3. Dairy, except heavy cream
                          4. Any chocolate under 85%

                          Borderline primal foods
                          1. Potatoes (= paste)

                            1. Sea Urchin (smells like poo)
                            2. Rocky Mountain Oysters, aka Prairie Oysters (Buffalo or Bull Testicles)
                            3. Testicles in general
                            4. Monkey brain...or any brain for that matter
                            5. Raw squid (you get those tentacle suction cups stuck on your tongue and you find out how fast your gag reflex works)
