I'm sure most of the research they cite could be challenged pretty easily. But they sure do make it hard, by bombarding you with so much of it all at once, along with cute puppies, kittens, women in various states of carb-induced pleasure...
They seem to be pushing something called "Resistant Starch" instead of pure sugar. Well, that's an improvement, but then I read this:
"A recent multicenter study found that the slimmest people also ate the most carbs, and the chubbiest ate the least."
My head asplode. You will search in vain for actual citations.
In my opinion, we in the primal community need to get more serious about understanding the different types of carbs, rather than lumping them all together, or we can't respond intelligently to this kind of nonsense.
I don't know what's wrong with you guys! This is great news and breaking science. They even said it was all backed by "hundreds" of studies!
I'll be right back, I'm on my way to the grocery store to pick up a loaf of bread, two rolls of cookie dough, two more dozen pre-baked cookies, a cake, half a dozen cupcakes, apple turnovers, five pints of Ben and Jerry's, a two-liter of Mt. Dew, and three gallons of Kool-aid. Oh, and also some metamucil, because as long as I have some fiber to go along with all of that it's perfectly healthy and will help me LOSE weight.
