  • Best Whey Protein

I am on the search for a top quality whey protein. One that is grass-fed and that has no artificial sweeteners.

I found the following 2 brands:

    Source Naturals, True Whey

    and

    Jay Rob Enterprises

Has anyone tried either of these brands? If not, what brand do you buy?

    Thanks!

I use Jay Robb's. It's pretty good stuff from what I've read, and it tastes halfway decent which helps.
    Carpe Diem!

Thanks for your input! I think I will go with that... it's on Amazon whom I LOVE.

      Any other thoughts?

I use Optimum Nutrition Pro Complex Natural, which is a whey/casein/egg blend. It is supposedly all natural, using stevia as a sweetener. They also have a natural whey product. I think it tastes good.

I checked out biochem... it just has a bunch of other stuff in it.

I will pay a premium price for a high quality, grass-fed, pure whey protein.

            Anyone else have a recommendation?

I currently have optimum nutrition as well... the strawberry banana flavor and it just isn't cutting it.

Is Isopure still around? I remember they had some pretty good meal replacements that were 1 or 0 grams of sugar a while back.

It sure is. I looked it up. It has excellent reviews on Amazon. But, it is not grass-fed.

Maybe for a protein powder it is not necessary to pay the premium for grass-fed? Anyone?

Not sure if you've seen Mark's posts on protein powders but in this one he says he doesn't think it's worth paying for grass-fed: http://www.marksdailyapple.com/whey-...er-supplement/

Just remembered reading it, I don't use protein powder much anymore.

Thank you for referring me back to that article. I have read it but forgot about that point. You just saved me money

I don't use whey that much either but I LOVE smoothies and enjoy adding whey once in a while.

Not grass fed, but this is GREAT value if you're on a budget:

                          THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!!

I just checked it out and WOW! Look at those reviews! Absolutely incredible. 33 reviews and 31 are 5 stars. Simply amazing.

I just learned they have a few flavored versions... have you had them? Are they naturally flavored? I am going to go with the plain right now since I add it to smoothies, but I may try a flavored version in the future.

                          Thanks!

I use the True Whey in my morning smoothies. I try to limit my smoothies to heavy lifting days only. I like that it is Whey Concentrate instead of Isolate and it has no added "stuff" except Stevia. The "contented cows" propaganda is why I bought it. Before that, I used EAS Protein almost exclusively, with occasional bouts of Optimal Nutrition Whey. So far, I like the way, True Whey feels in my system. I realize it may be psychosomatic, but I can afford it...so I will most likely keep using it.

I can't really tell you about the flavored ones as I've only bought the one I linked to. It goes a long way when you buy the 10lb bag! What I like to do is have a PWO shake with 2/3c of that whey, a banana (or two if it was a particularily heavy day), a little powdered kelp, a pinch of glutamine, and some cocoa nibs pulsed into a powder. Great flavor and really helps with recovery. If my fat is particularly low for the day, I'll also add in some coconut milk. YUM!
