Yeah, just make coffee or tea.

If you absolutely must have some chemical-based energy drink, 5 Hour Energy isn't so bad, considering.

I've spent years as a ships captain always doing night cruising and my number one stay awake tip is dark chocolate coated expresso coffee beans.

Starbucks does them in Europe but some specialist coffee shop do way better. I did think once about melting dark chocolate and mixing fresh ground expresso in but it seemed like a lot if hassle to improve something that's almost perfect anyway.

Actually that sounds like a worthwhile project.

Steaz makes zero calorie (and regular) energy drinks that are pretty natural, the zero calorie ones are sweetened with stevia. Energy - Berry Zero Calorie My husband is a Monster addict, he's tried them and liked them, but is trying to give up the mega caffeine (and associated $$) habit right now and just sticking with coffee.

Sometimes 2-3 a day?? That must add up in your wallet by the end of the month.

Like a fizzy fruity green tea, it's hard to describe. Not as pungent as most energy drinks.

I would buy them 3 for 5$ or even worse, Sam's Club where I would get a 30 pack for even less per can.....

Oh man. Those beans are amazing! Starbucks is way overpriced, but a good candy shop or coffee shop would have some delicious ones!!

Has anyone else tried zip fizz? It seems to be the only thing that really works for me anymore, its kind of like 5 hour energy because of the b12 in it. I went through all the ingredients and it does't seem to be that bad. If your interested here's the link Zipfizz Ingredients

Have you tried water kefir? It tastes similar to soda but is full of probiotics & vitamins.
Needing some accountability, so here's my stats:

+1 on the homemade coffee or tea.

I think that the shift work is doing much more damage to your health than energy drinks ever will. I know that changing careers is a difficult (often impractical) option, but I thought that it needed to be said. I know that the medical field in general is (ironically) very bad about allowing workers to get adequate sleep. I don't know what an industry solution might be, but it seems like a good conversation for a society to have at some point.
