  • Any Healthy Ice Cream out there?

OK, so I am getting more primal all the time, both nutritionally and fitness, but I have a weakness that I haven't overcome yet.......ice cream! My '20' of the 80/20 philosophy is often comprised of ice cream and ....ice cream. Now, I know all the reasons why I shouldn't eat it.....mainly high sugar/hfcs/high carb period! content....but the fact is, I am occasionally gonna eat it....believe me, I have cut WAY back in the last 3 months. My question.......is there ice cream out there that is healthier than the average ice cream that anyone is aware of? Maybe no HFCS? No sugar added usually has sugar alcohols, which give me serious gas......how about made with coconut milk? But the ones I have found so far still have a lot of sugar.......probably no getting around that. Thoughts?
The life I have today is far better than I deserve.......

Im not sure where you are, but here in NZ there is 'NiceCream' which is made from coconut milk and is RIDICULOUSLY good. I hope you can find - or make- your own which is similar?

Haagen Dazs usually has straightforward ingredients, at least the less fussy flavours like vanilla and strawberry. Cream, milk, eggs, sugar, vanilla, not much else.

I have a new weakness. Ice pops. I love them. I take one can of coconut milk, one small can of pineapple packed in it's own juice and blend it in my blender. Sometimes I leave it at that and sometimes I add another fruit. Blueberry is good. Watermelon is awesome. I don't add sugar. It really doesn't need it. Then I pour it into popsicle molds. 3 hours later, a delicious treat is born.

A peeled, frozen banana on a stick is the best popsicle you can get.

Heavy whipping cream has no carbs in it. Can ice cream be made from that?
Flavoring it with 88% dark chocolate and/or bakers chocolate sounds like it could be good...maybe a bit of brown cinnamon.

                        Thoughts?

Take the frozen banana, slice it up, and add fresh blueberries. Nom!

Ooh - maybe tomorrow I'll put the blueberries in the freezer 30 minutes before serving...

Lol..I am addicted to them. I may try watermelon and water, but I think the coconut milk is key. I want to make a chocolate one too.
