  • Let's Talk "Superfoods" Again

Okay, you can now stop the eye roll. I'm talking about your personal superfoods and/or supplements. The stuff you regularly eat, you like it's taste (supps might be an exception) and you feel it makes you feel good, be healthy and it keeps your weight/body composition in a good place.

For me those in no particular order are:

    Bananas
    Honey
    Cocoa
    Lean protein from grass-fed ruminants
    Ghee
    Gelatin
    Eggs
    Vit D3

  • #2
    White Rice
    Sweet Potatoes
    Eggs
    Greek Yogurt
Coffee (not a food, but it's my list and I can do what I want )

      Currently....

      Food
      Gelatine (and Jello)
      Cherries
      Cottage Cheese
      Salmon
      Melon
      Coconut water
      Beef once a week

      Sups
Only sups I've ever noticed to make a difference to me were:
      Vitex (for low progesterone)
      Zinc (for acne)

I've just started taking Vit D3 and Brewer's yeast though, so we shall see...
"I think the basic anti-aging diet is also the best diet for prevention and treatment of diabetes, scleroderma, and the various "connective tissue diseases." This would emphasize high protein, low unsaturated fats, low iron, and high antioxidant consumption, with a moderate or low starch consumption.

In practice, this means that a major part of the diet should be milk, cheese, eggs, shellfish, fruits and coconut oil, with vitamin E and salt as the safest supplements."

Wow....I think others have much more variety than me. I really only have 5.

              - Espresso, homemade, made into cold mocha drinks. A few grams of sugar, but 2% GF milk and VERY satiating. I "fast" with these, and can easily go 36 hours with just these and electrolyte water.
              - Almond butter w apples
              - cottage cheese, homemade, as a last-before-fasting must have
              - venison cooked confit in pork belly. If that isn't tasty to someone, they have no taste!
              - Rabbit, confit in dutch oven slow with coconut oil

I only have 30lbs of venison left, which won't make it to hunting season This is the stuff I lie in bed late at night thinking about.

I don't know what makes me feel good but I do know what I like and eat regularly:

                      Potatoes
                      Grass-fed beef
                      Gelatinous bone stock
                      Carrots
Freshly squeezed juice: carrots, grapes, blueberries, clementine, kale, etc.
                      Nutritional yeast
                      Clams
                      Rice and rice noodles
                      Grass-fed beef liver
                      Bananas
                      Oranges
                      Coconut oil (refined)
                      Apple cider vinegar
                      Chocolate, dark, soy- and dairy-free
                      Nixtamalized corn tortillas
                      Pink Himalayan salt

Coffee, in small doses. Same with green and jasmine tea.
                        Steamed leafy vegetables.
                        Steamed fresh fish.
                        Reasonably lean pastured pork.
                        Lamb and chicken heart.
                        Chicken livers.
                        Potatoes.
                        Sweet potatoes.
                        Rice.
                        Cooked pears and apples.
                        Coconut water.
                        Small amount of olive oil.

I'd also love to eat a plethora of other delicious Primal foods, but these are the ones I can eat without bloating or feeling like crap the next day.

Bacon is my spirit animal. And superfood.

I love pretty much everything, but bulletproof coffee or a little 90% chocolate make me feel superhuman.
