  • Would this be an example of a Ketogenic diet?

    In one day:

    4 eggs + 4 thick slices of free-range bacon.

Approx 300 grams of grass-fed beef.

One can of tuna (140 grams).

Half a chicken, served with lots of garlic and rutabaga, cayenne pepper and coconut oil.

    Supplements (Spirulina, magnesium, Omega 3-6-9).

IDK. Maybe. That's a lot of protein, might be enough to keep you out. Keto diets are high fat diet, not necessarily high protein. I think something like 70-80% of calories should come from fats to be in ketosis, but it varies by the individual and their activity level.

yeah, ketogenic isn't the same as high-protein. generally, though, with fat 60%+ and carbs less than 10% should do you.
As I ate the oysters with their strong taste of the sea and their faint metallic taste that the cold white wine washed away, leaving only the sea taste and the succulent texture, and as I drank their cold liquid from each shell and washed it down with the crisp taste of the wine, I lost the empty feeling and began to be happy and to make plans.

definitely primal, but way too much protein to be ketogenic. Keto diets are mainly fat

Try .8 -1.0 gms protein per kilograms of body weight as a guide. Some folks can eat more protein & stay in ketosis. YMMV.

Just from eyeing your food intake though I don't know how much you weigh, your fat intake is pretty low for a ketogenic diet. Throw some grassfed butter, heavy fat cream and more coconut or MCT oil into your daily intake.

you can eat more vegetable carbs and still stay in ketosis and I'd recommend you do
When I'd had enough of the grain and starched based 'diabetic eating for health' diet (eating for health, my ass!) my weight was 242.5 lbs. On starting primal- 18th April 2013 weight : 238.1.
              27th July 2013. weight after 100 days 136.9 weight lost 101.2lb ; that's 105.6lbs since I stopped the 'diabetic eating for health'

Close enough, IME. I stay at my weight with all sorts of extra protein in the mix. You'll likely dip in and out of ketosis, especially if you eat all of that in one sitting and fast until the next day.

I'll eat veggies just because its another opportunity to add more fat. e.g full fat homemade dressing or butter especially on brocolli. You can add a serving of fruit, but stick to berries since they contain the least amount of fructose.

I know there was a poster (maybe Otzi?) who was in ketosis for part of a potato fast/feast. I can go into ketosis without eating a lot of fat. My "natural" eating pattern - IOW if I just eat what I want to eat - is fairly protein heavy in comparison to a lot of people. I will occasionally go into ketosis. It's not a goal, it's just something that happens if I forget to eat veggies for a few days.

Who says back fat is a bad thing? Maybe on a hairy guy at the beach, but not on a crab.
