  • Tea and pro-biotics

So tea is an anti-microbial. Do you think drinking it with yogurt or kefir might kill off the probiotics and thwart some of the point of eating those foods?

Pu-erh tea has been linked to digestive benefits, increased nutrient absorption, increased metabolism, better cholesterol lowering ability than statins, and a range of immune-boosting properties. All of which have been attributed to probiotic bacteria as well.

Pu-erh tea is spontaneously fermented tea leaves.

    You tell me.

The metal in my head clangs and clings as I walk - freaks my balance out. So the natural thought is just clogged up. Totally clogged up. So we need to unplug these dams, and make the the natural flow... It sort of freaks me out. We need to unplug the dams. You cannot stop the natural flow of thought with a cling and a clang..."

You think so? It's like if you took coffee and gave it even MORE earthy undertones.

          Kombucha...
I'm pretty sure that should be evidence in itself.

Yup, that about sums it up. I drank a lot of it last year. Mostly Numi's chocolate and emperor blends.

I have this wonderful pu-erh cake that I've been slowly chipping away at that has been fermenting for 20 years. Well, 21 now.

                  Haha, maybe I will sometime.

It cost me over $100 for the cake but it can get 15 cups out of a few teaspoons of the stuff, so I think it'll end up being less than $0.30 - $0.40 per cup in the end. Totally worth it.

I have a friend in SF who is friends with the folks who own this shop since childhood (yes, I get very nice gifts... it's too bad I can drink almost no tea anymore due to my high risk of kidney stones ).
That are first generation America Chinese and they make several trips during harvest every year to select teas, and have some good Pu-Erhs as well.

                      pls

Only reason I stopped drinking it was because Numi's(only kind I can find by me) cost 9.99 for 20 bags, and I liked using 2 bags per one cup. I miss having it in the morning, really does seem to do wonders for your mood. Maybe placebo, but it's definitely comforting.

                          Oh, you are serious.
I see that Teance doesn't have any of the really aged stuff in stock right now.
But they do have it sometimes.

It's true, I just usually wondered if fermented anything was actually good for you. I'm willing to look more into it. I might buy Pu-erh in bulk and let it ferment for a while, not quite as long as you, since I'll likely drink it all quickly.

That said, kombucha gives me a stomach ache.

If you buy real, proper, Pu-Erh you pay more up front but it's not cut with all the fillers and it takes much less to make a good strong cup. And what it takes to make your first cup in the morning can be used to make cups ALL DAY...
Heck, if you refrigerate it, you can use it the next day.
