  • Cheated and looking for some tips for relief

I know it was stupid to fall off the wagon, but I indulged in some sugary treats over about a two week period. I traveled to to a family wedding and I wasn't diligent about avoiding gluten (ate cookies and even a doughnut...bleck!).

I've been primal for over two years. I never imagined I'd fall off so hard (I don't mess around much b/c I have hashimoto's).

I'm back into my paleo routine. I did okay while cheating (surprisingly), but I feel icky now in that I get bloated very easily and am tired. Now I know why I stay so strict...I hate to feel bloated!

I'm drinking a lot of water and thought about IFing, but not sure I want to do that at the moment.

Mostly I'm looking for relief from tummy bloating. Any tips?

    Thanks!

    Ginger root tea?

Most likely this is gonna just be one of those time heals all wounds issues.

You are probably right. I'm sure this all "feels" bigger than it really is.

I think exercise is helping quite a bit. I am also resting and lounging a bit more.

I prefer to be moving and doing, but it may just be that I have to submit to this and learn the lesson.

I have heard that it takes the body 6 weeks to completely process and break down any gluten ingested. You might be groggy for a while, sorry to say.
Stumbled into Primal due to food allergies, and subsequent elimination of non-primal foods.

Start Gluten-Free/Soy-Free: December 2012; start weight 158lbs, Ladies size 6
Start Primal: March 2013, start weight 150lbs, Ladies size 6
              Current: 132lbs, Ladies size 2
              F/23/5'9"

26lbs lost since cutting the crap.

If you are celiac, I know it takes me a month to quit having horrible heartburn. This is just from cross contamination, since I'd never knowingly eat wheat.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm feeling better at this point. Just have to get back to my regular diet, which is very much primal.

I don't have grogginess. I just wanted to go to sleep a lot so that I could "sleep away" the bloated feeling and just not have to deal with it.

Time and my usual diet seemed to be the remedy.

I have Celiac as well and cross contamination can also cause a horrific reaction. I don't get the heartburn but my joints all flare up and it can take anywhere from 2 to 6 weeks for the pain to go away. The first 10 days are the worst. I can't imagine what I'd feel like if I ate wheat on purpose.

I'm sad to hear it sounds like you are just as sensitive as I am. It sucks and even supposedly gluten free friendly places have given me reactions.

There is a wonderful product by Lifestream called Bowel Biotics. It is psyllium husk infused with probiotics. I take a dose of that with two of their probiotic tablets and it really really helps to soothe my insides and move everything through so that the bloat settles down.

Hope you can purchase where you are if not try online.
