    It makes counting calories seem even more pointless...

    The "Seven Deadly Sins"

    Grains (wheat/rice/oats etc) . . . . . Dairy (milk/yogurt/butter/cheese etc) . . . . . Nightshades (peppers/tomato/eggplant etc)
    Tubers (potato/arrowroot etc) . . . Modernly palatable (cashews/olives etc) . . . Refined foods (salt/sugars etc )
    Legumes (soy/beans/peas etc)

          Thanks for sharing! Kind of makes you wonder how our ancestors every got along without knowing the calorie content of their food. Ha!

            Interesting how the article also points out the cooking affecting our food and the lack of energy required to process/ digest it.


            Like the experiment between the cooked egg and the raw egg. The cooked egg was digested 90%, whereas the raw egg was only 50% digested.

              this doesn't mention the idea that the calorie counts are some sort of average for whatever. So, take a not fully ripe piece of fruit - it's going to have fewer sugars and therefore fewer calories than a fully ripe piece of fruit. Or, varying sizes.


              The marbling of fat in beef can affect it's calorie count, as well.

                  GREAT article. I'm thinking more and more about going raw. Another good reason why. Better for weight loss.

                    How is it better for weight loss?


                    You would just eat twice as much, if you are only getting half the nutrients.
