  • Is there a food list?

    Hey Everyone,
I just got my Primal Blueprint Expanded version in the mail yesterday and I can't put it down! I am really excited to get off the junk food, get back to lifting weights again, and detoxify my body from a very difficult winter.

I have two great Paleo cookbooks (Practical Paleo & Paleo Comfort Foods) that I have used with success, but I'm wondering if they are supporting the same foods that Mark does. I guess my question comes down to a food list. Is there an extensive list of foods that I can take with me to the grocery store? I have searched this website high and low, and I can't find anything that narrows your choices down to a specific list of foods.

I'm on a limited budget, and if I don't have to buy anything else then I won't. However, if there is something critical that I'm missing, I'm willing to invest in my health.

    Thanks for replying!
    ~Michelle

Thank you, thank you! I knew I had seen that list at one point, but when I actually went to try and find it again.... well, I'm just glad I have the list now.

A common error is to fill the cart with meat and produce that ends up spoiling so I recommend typing up a 7-day meal plan before you go.

During my last move I had to equip a kitchen from scratch and made myself this list:

        Cupboard
        • virgin oils -- coconut, olive, avocado, macadamia
        • vinegars -- wine, rice
        • tamari, fish sauce
        • salt, pepper
        • dry spices -- cinnamon, taco blend, curry blend, Chinese five spice, toasted sesame
        • cocoa powder
        • liquid extracts -- vanilla, peppermint
        • tea, coffee

        Refrigerator
        • butter
        • grated / crumbled cheese
        • pickled / fermented vegetables
        • olives
        • condiments -- mustard, horseradish, pepper sauce
        • filtered water, seltzer, iced tea

        Freezer
        • berries
        • nuts
        • non-grain flours

        Fresh
        • whole vegetables, fruits, herbs
        • meat, seafood
        • eggs
        • cream, yogurt

        Avoid
        • ready to eat (“barcode”) meals, snacks, desserts
        • refined oils
        • grain flours
        • sugar
        • condiments containing sugar or refined oils

Sounds like being primal can still be yummy.
