  • Triglycerides and yellow bone marrow

Does anyone know what the triglycerides in yellow bone marrow is for? Google just says it stores it. For what? anyone know?

Yellow bone marrow is found mainly in the medullary cavity of long bones (the middle of it). It has a few functions but mainly it can be used in extreme cases to make red blood cells when the red bone marrow isn't doing it's job. It can also be used as an absolute last resort for energy in times of extreme starvation. The triglycerides are actually what give it it's yellow color.

    Hope that helps!
