  • Blood pressure question

Quick question - I usually eat 4 squares of dark chocolate every day, I've been training fasted for over a year and everything is going well, however, yesterday I ate an entire bar with nothing in my stomach and today, at the gym, when I tried to bench press (deload day), I couldn't balance the bar and the moment I stood up I almost fell over, and the dizziness persisted; my question, is it possible that the amount of dark chocolate I ate was enough to lower my overall blood pressure in just 1 day?

What's your normal blood pressure levels? Also, something to consider, if that's all you ate, the polyphenols in dark chocolate can drastically reduce blood sugar levels(can cause dizziness)

It's usually 120/80 - and it might be blood sugar rather than pressure - but I think it has do with the chocolate because I've been consistent with my diet and that was the only thing I changed, the amount of it and the time I ate it.

Some important suggestions to cure pressure are:

          • Shed any excess weight
          • Limit salt in your diet
          • Exercise regularly
          • Limit fat in your diet
          • Avoid smoking

Yeah, I'm sure it was the chocolate. I don't eat chocolate on an empty stomach, because it usually made me dizzy too. Or, at least it did when I was eating vlc, or fasting.

On Monday I'll be back at the gym and will see if the symptoms come back. Thanks for your response m8, and the others as well.

I tend to have low blood pressure, and I have problems with it going too low if I allow myself to get dehydrated. Keep in mind that if you 'feel' thirsty, you're already dehydrated. I once wound up in the ER when I developed orthotic hypotension from dehydration on a very hot day when I was traveling.

It's good to work out fasting, but you need to be sure that you're adequately hydrated.
