  • Yoghurt + Berries <-- anti-oxidants not working?

    Hey guys,

I just stumbled across some studies/blogs on the internet.. lol.. The dairy protein, casein, binds to polyphenols in my berries making them useless to my body.. They also said the cardiovascular health benefits from tea is prevented when milk is added.

Does this mean I should now stop adding milk to my tea and no yoghurt/berry desserts? If I take these studies seriously then that means I would have to stop mixing dairy with my food to get the health benefits.

    What do you guys think?

I think dairy is for babies. Enjoy sparingly.

*Edit - I recently added back in some more dairy then usual, and got the red patches back on my face, and have been a tad bloated, so dialing back again. YMMV, but I'm becoming more convinced as time goes by that we aren't really meant to consume very much dairy overall.

I've read that adding cream to coffee reduced the antioxidant benefits too, but screw it, I've got more to worry about than a spoon of cream.

You could go crazy trying to maximize antioxidants in your diet. The new conventional wisdom is to live on superfoods and ignore all balance. That's why so many people have given up on healthy eating today. They think only someone with a PhD who doesn't need to work for a living has the time and resources to do the research necessary to eat a healthy diet.
