  • Farmed Salmon from Whole Foods (not your typical farmed salmon)

Does anyone have opinions on the quality of Farmed Salmon from Whole Foods?
They have recently (I think) made customers aware that their farmed salmon is of better quality than the typical unhealthy farmed salmon with GMOs etc.

Does anyone have insights on this?

Did they specify why? Without details, their claim is moot.

There is no doubt that there can be huge differences between fish farming techniques. Just like plant based farming.
Some of you may die, but that is a risk I'm willing to take.

I work for a company that has some involvement in "improved" fish farming techniques. I would agree that there can be important differences, both in the health of the fish and the impact on the environment. However, I'm not aware of any farming strategy that truly replicates the diet and development of wild salmon. I always buy wild caught.

they're still bred in captivity, force-fed grains and unless otherwise noted, fed low-dose antibiotics because of the close conditions.

that perfect storm makes gmo seem a drop in the ocean.

plus, the texture and flavor just suck. i buy canned wild salmon to eat all the time. fresh wild salmon is an in-season treat.
As I ate the oysters with their strong taste of the sea and their faint metallic taste that the cold white wine washed away, leaving only the sea taste and the succulent texture, and as I drank their cold liquid from each shell and washed it down with the crisp taste of the wine, I lost the empty feeling and began to be happy and to make plans.

You can, however, put lipstick on a pig.
