  • Fatty meats

Having trouble keeping my fats up, mostly because of meats.

What kind of meat should I be looking at buying? I eat almost anything in the way of meat.

    Thanks in advance.

Ruminant meats and fatty seafoods are your best bets. Better O3/O6 ratio plus better fat/protein ratio.

add fat to the meat, cook it in grass fed butter, coconut oil...

Eat the fat that comes on the meat. If you have some leftover, use it to cook the next meal in.

When it comes to fatty beef, brisket is the best. Slow-roasted so the fat is a wee bit crispy on the outside but meltingly soft inside.

Lamb, pork butt, pork belly, mackerel, salmon, sardines, liver is supposedly fatty but it doesn't seem that fatty to me, maybe duck liver pate is fatty, duck is fatty.

                      Ok...all good answers I think...thank you.

I do cook with coconut oil for everything. Liver I eat a lot of but yes, didn't think of it as fatty. I eat tongue but again, don't think of it as fatty either. Heart fall into same ?

Mostly days when I eat steak my chart shows me low. I eat all the fat that comes on anything...always have.

I don't normally like eating the fat off of meat. If I have a fatty steak I normally cut around the fat and throw it away or give it to my dog. However, I must say that I do enjoy eating fatty lamb or duck. Just this past weekend I had rosemary roasted leg of lamb sided with asparagus seasoned with garlic, sea salt, pepper and olive oil and a sweet potato topped with grass fed butter and coconut oil which was delicious.

I love buying the salmon trimmings from the store. Not only are they FAR CHEAPER than fillets, but they're actually FAR TASTIER too!! So worth it Salmon belly strips, roasted... Swoon!
