    Oysters are pretty cheap, and have a really high amount of nutrients. Potatoes are cheap, cooking them really well and making a soup gives you a safe option for a good source of aminos. Also, sometimes butchers give away bones for broth too.

      Organic is better than nothing, but cows that eat corn get intestinal diseases, e.coli, etc. and mistreated animals have constant cortisol emissions, which wreak the same havoc on their immune systems that they would on a human...

          I already eat a lot of eggs, which are $5/dozen for conventional and $7/dozen for organic in my city. I don't know where the heck you're getting yours for $4. I'm allergic to fish and shellfish so I don't eat those, but I do eat plenty of potatoes and I do get soup bones from my butcher. I'll take my CAFO meat over grains - at least the meat doesn't give me gas.

          How are nuts better from an O6 perspective?

            I operate more from an emotional standpoint than a "here's this article that says this so I'm gonna do this"

            Seems obvious to me that eating the meat of unhealthy animals is not the path to good health. If that doesn't seem obvious to you, then by all means continue to do so.

            I don't eat tons of nuts, just a handful here and there, I eat tons of veggies, green ones, orange ones, salads, potatoes, fruit here and there, and after giving up grains and legumes for 6+ months I reintroduced them and felt better (I'm about 95% gluten-free, though).

            You should try to find out if there are any farmers nearby. I know it's cold up there so there might be fewer than there are here in Ohio... You may be surprised to find that demand for quality meat/eggs/dairy nearby is higher than you think, though, and that there are people around you running businesses in attempt to meet those needs.

            I don't exercise very much (see first post), so that keeps my caloric needs down, I suppose.

              Anyway, my advice for your husband is to just tell him to stop eating foods that make him feel bloated, uncomfortable, tired, etc; Those are signs of inflammation in the gut, which is leading to serotonin build-up.

              Also, make him a carrot salad, and eat it yourself, too! Carrots are cheap.

              grated carrots, coconut oil, vinegar, and salt. Eat it daily, you'll probably notice various improvements quickly.

                2ndchance, I live in a major urban centre in the "green belt" of Ontario so the issue is not the availability of quality food. As I said earlier, it's the PRICE of it. There is an organic butcher near me that I walked into and honest to goodness, there were no prices listed. At all. It was like a Chanel boutique. If you have to ask how much something is, clearly you cannot afford it. Blame my Iron Curtain upbringing but as I said earlier, there is no way I am willing to pay (or able to afford to, at this stage) $40/kg for grassfed meat. So the organic grain-fed meat from the farmer's market it is.

                So you keep operating on your emotional standpoint and eating your grains and I will keep eating my meat. Agree to disagree.

                  True. And come to think of it I would like to see a conversation between peter attia and Ron rosedale. One believes ketosis is awesome due to the higher metabolism and ability to eat more calories, and the other believes ketosis is awesome due to the lowered metabolism and t3.
