bwahaha! stop, stop, I'm gonna pee!

Okay, I love chia (seriously, if the Tarahumara can run ultra marathons on it, it's gotta be some awesome grub), and I do put it in my smoothies, but this chia-centered diet seems a bit silly.

It worries me that this Aztec Diet is being even put in the same sentence as Paleo, or regarded in the same manner. I'm already sick of people thinking I don't eat carbs (cos why else wouldn't you eat grains, right???) and that I'm a hypocrite because I eat broccoli which "wasn't around when cavemen were"...

Yeah, isn't "moving slowly, frequently" one of the cornerstones of that "lifestyle"? lol

Their diet sure didn't help their immune system when the Spanish came a calling.

Isn't that a bit unfair? Just because the conditions in Europe were more inclined to induce smallpox before the Americas and that the people gained the immunity through genetic selection from the others who died en masse?

Well that sort of depends on what you define as working, doesn't it?
Lose weight? Probably not. Make your days more entertaining? Might be a different story.

Also, just to be an annoying nerd, the pyramids weren't built by slaves.

                    As for this Aztec Diet:
Although chia seeds could certainly be part of a healthy diet, I don't think they have any above and beyond benefits found no where else. I'd distrust any diet that tells you that one specific food is they key to success (no, Paleo doesn’t tell you meat does that!).
I totally agree that the Aztecs weren't that ancient by how Paleo thinks of it. They were an agrarian civilization that relied on a staple grain (corn in this case) just like any found in Asia, Africa or Europe at the same time.
Although we're not fond of the corn, beans, and grain, most of what they mention is much less processed. It'd still be an improvement over the SAD, so could people see health improvements? Sure. Would they get tired of adding chia seeds to everything except their toothpaste? Very likely.
Overall this diet has all the makings of a fad diet, and I hate to see it lumped in with Paleo.

The Aztec's also ate some human flesh from time to time, so you better not forget that element in your diets...
