  • NorCal Margarita and Fasting

    Silly question I know.

Currently on a 24 fast until 1pm tomorrow.

About an hour ago I was with my mates and decided to have a NorCal Margarita (2 shots Tequilla, Juice and pulp 1 lime and soda)

Will it effect my fast badly?

Alcohol is first of the macronutrients to be processed by the body

    Alcohol
    carbohydrates
    protein
    fat

That means when it is present in your system, your body stops processing the other macronutrients and focuses on the alcohol (since it is a toxin). So if it doesn't require additional energy from other sources (carbs, fat) these get stored as fat more easily than without alcohol.

So in your case your body will have stopped metabolising your own body fat a period of time (it took to process the alcohol) - effectively un-fasting you. After it runs out of alco-fuel though it will go back to eating your own ass.

That's my understanding of it as per Robb Wolf's pod cast.

No idea. But I live in San Francisco and that's the first time I've heard of NorCal Margarita.
