  • Clean Paleo Diet, trouble losing those last 5 lbs. Suggestions

    Hey Guys!

So i've been training and eating clean for a while now. No grains, dairy, or legumes. Lifting about 4-5x a week.

I've set a goal to lose 5 lbs, so I follow a pretty strict diet and exercise program. Im 5'10 about 10%bf.

    My macros look like this

    Protein: 175g
    Fat: 100g
    Carbs: 50-100g

Everyday I eat: Kale, broccoli, spinach, with chicken, turkey, or salmon. Add about 3 tbsp of olive oil or coconut oil.

I eat this meal 2x a day along with a protein shake post work out.

Should I change up my diet at all? Is it bad that I get all my carbs from green veggies? not enough carbs? too much fat? any help please.

    Thanks in advance!

You don't say what your weight is.
Why are you worried about going less than 10%?

If you can lift 4-5x per week you are may not be lifting heavy enough...what is your routine?
Eating primal is not a diet, it is a way of life.

I'm at 185 lbs now. Trying to get a little bit leaner. Not sure what to do because i've stalled at this weight.
I'll do a carb up with sweet potatoes and white rice, once in a while but im pretty consistent with my diet of green veggies, meat, and added fat from olive oil, coconut oil, avacados, and almond butter.

      My routine is
      m- chest/tri
      t- back/bi
      w-legs/ delts
      th-off
      fri-chest/back
      sat- circuit training

I think your health might be more secure if you put on a few pounds. 10% is pushing it. You need fat to hold up your kidneys, man.

              1. If you want to get below 10%, you have to admit to us all that it's not for the sake of health but because you want the ladies on the beach to marvel at your wondrous abs.

              2. I'd lose the almond butter and one of the meals. There are separate benefits to fasting pre-workout and fasting post-workout, and I'd mix in some of each.

              3. I do OMAD (one meal a day) when I have to make weight. Works great for me. YMMV.

You're body is probably putting up a fight to go any lower.

The easiest way to lose those extra five pounds is probably going to revolve around changing your workout routine. I know when I've gotten down into that range my body didn't want to go it was by cutting back on my lifting a bit and increasing my cardio. Maybe try cutting back lifting to just compound HEAVY lifts twice a week and doing cardio 3-4 times a week.

Something else to try. May help. I've also found increasing my food intake seemed to help to a certain extent while I was adding in the extra cardio.

I reckon fasting in one way or another would sort it. I didn't eat much for three days over xmas as I had a cold and felt rubbish. I dropped 3lbs very easy. Its stayed off since. im 174lb's at 5'9" but have no idea what my body fat is..not much I'm guessing. My goal is to get down to 168lb ( 12 stone) I seem to lose a 1lb a week at the moment and I don't hit the gym that hard and I eat near on the same as you. I'm deffo of the opinion the gym has way less influence on your weight that the food you eat.
Caution! My replies may contain traces of nuts!. My posts are just my opinion based on my experience with the primal way of life, there is no assurance it will work with others in the same way.

                  Started Primal 15th October 2012
                  Height 5'9"
                  Start weight 200lb
Loss so far 33.8lbs, now 166.2lb
                  Goal was 168lb's
