These photos!!! Morex's adventures in SLD

Wow. I'm speechless. I just read all seven pages and am now off to read Seth's blog post. Amazing results, you rock! Thanks for sharing and all of the updates and explanations.

Hah. The only thing I can add is to maybe try to schedule drinking it as close to an hour after eating as you can, so that you aren't drinking it on an empty stomach. I had a few cramps the first few days but adjusted pretty quickly.

I was thinking of starting with a teaspoon and only increasing gradually when it was clear I was able to handle it. It seems like it would be defeating the purpose to eat an extra meal just so I could take the oil.

        • Agreed. Do you only eat once a day? I actually only eat twice a day but for some reason have a lot of trouble fitting the oil in. I really don't know why. So, yesterday (and hopefully today!) will be the first two days I've done it twice a day. And even on only once a day, I still lost weight. Like....about a pound a day.

          Increasing gradually sounds good.

          • I normally eat lunch and supper. I was figuring on having the oil in the morning and then again about lunchtime, pushing lunch back into a mid-afternoon snack.

            • Wow...I have to say that day one, I am shocked. I ate my usual breakfast of two pastured eggs, 1 small homemade sausage patty and a little kale all cooked in lovely rendered duck fat (also from pastured ducks) from Fatworks at 8:30. At 11, I had a spoonful of red palm oil and plugged my nose. I went about my day and not one bit of hunger. It's 3:30 and I am having little leftover chicken and kale salad. I will probably not have a second dose of fat unless I have it after dinner to keep that sugar dragon at bay. I have lost 50 lbs eating primal with zero processed carbs but these last ten pesky lbs need to go. I think this just may do the trick.

              • Good going Oceangrl!

I hear you about the last ten pounds.

Mine are basically gone, but I continue to do the oil because
for some reason it makes me feel good, and I DO like the appetite
suppression when I DO get hungry.

I usually have my coffee around 8:30 with 15g heavy cream, 30g of
half and half, then 50g of whole milk.

This usually keeps me "full" until 3pm. Always has. I've never been a breakfast
                eater.

Anyway, but come 3pm I wouldn't exactly be RAVENOUS, but I'd eat... and then snack
a little here and there until dinner at 6, 7 or 8...

The oil actually keeps me from going balls out at 3pm, and then when I take it after my
"lunch" it keeps me from going balls out at dinner too.

It ALSO keeps me from wanting an F-ton of chocolate after dinner as well....

That's where I'd get into trouble.

Calories looking great all day until that damn 300 calories or more of chocolate after
I ate dinner would put me over my allotment.

Now some might say "well, you ate those chocolate calories in all that oil anyway, why
                not just eat the chocolate?"

If you ARE asking that, then you need to read this nifty little book and digest it yourself.

I can't explain it myself and have it stick in your brain.

I borrowed the book from my library months back, but I'm actually going to buy it today
for my personal library because it gave me so many lightbulb moments, I want it in my
                OWN arsenal.

                • Julia, I am still playing with it. I have been a high protein/high fat breakfast eater since I did my first W30 almost 3 years ago. This morning, I had my red palm oil (the taste is vile) at 8:30ish. I went for a hike and got back at 11:30 starving. So I had my typical breakfast for lunch. Thinking back, it may have been an empty feeling..not actual hunger. I will have my second spoonful this afternoon.

I think I will stick with this scedule for a week and see how I adjust. I may discover I do better with eating my awesome breakfast..have my spoonful afternoonish and again after dinner. I swear it was so weird to not have the "aw..come on..Albertsons is right next door and they have Ben & Jerry's".

                  • Totally!!!!

Awww, Albertson's.... they don't have those around here anymore.

I remember when it was Alfa-Beta and then Albertson's.

Now it's all dumb Safeways and Luckys. Wah.

                      • I was quite fond of the Alpha Beta down the hill from my mom's house in San Diego. I actually have stores that I like better within a one mile radius...but Albertsons was handy for those late night foraging adventures. :0)

                        • Holy shitballs LV!

                          That's awesome!

I haven't been on the scale since restarting... I'm skurred.. but, my softy walking pants that
I wear for my dog walking job just about fell off my ass yesterday, so there's that.

AND I just washed them, so they shoulda been tight.

SLD got my setpoint down between 120/123, from 133/130, and that's fantastic, but I'd
                          like to shoot for 115.

Let's see if it can be done.

Oceangrl - I always found Jack in the Box overly successful for my midnight foraging.... HAR!

Before Albertson's turned into Safeway around here, when I was WAY younger, I found Safeway very
satisfactorily easy to steal big bottles of Vodka from.... ahem.

                            Hey Julia!

I just felt like if walked into a bar and met an old friend

Nice to find you here as well.

Yeah, I decided not to tell people unless someone is REALLY desperate to lose weight. SLD and paleo are very personal ways to hack your diet, but it won't work if you are not curious enough.

So, for me and my girlfriend, this is the way to go.

Oh and she is doing wonderful. She looks HOT! But shhhhhh don't tell her

Jokes aside, the most important thing is she is healthy for the first time since she was 7!!! She dealt all her life with gastritis, colitis and bloating. In a matter of days, they are all gone.

Me? I didn't even know I had all this "minor" things that affected my life. Since we went paleo, the nosebleeds are gone, no more runny nose, no more canker sores, no more zits or pimples and the best part: all my allergies are gone. No more hay fever or allergies to fish. That's super awesome.

So, as you can see, I'm happy to be here.

And even happier for finding friends
