  • I'll update by saying that I haven't done SLD in about two months, and have instead been eating about 2000cal/day and carb backloading before lifting days in an attempt to gain strength and performance. (I was ingesting a total of 1300-1500cal per day on SLD.) I haven't gained any weight (I still hover around 152), have lost more body fat, and my strength and conditioning have been skyrocketing.

I'm ready to call SLD an extended success. My setpoint is reset and my metabolism seems to be working the way science says it should. Calories in - calories out is now a simple, reliable tool.

      • I started again last week, and once again, have only been able to work in one shot a day, and have still lost 3 lbs, busting through yet another plateau. Love it. Today I'm going to be able to work in both shots. Not only do I lose weight doing this, I feel better and it seems to be great for my digestion.

I've been using the gnc brand of coconut oil, which is organic and refined, and the taste and the smell are wonderful but strong. Even if I wash it all off of my lips, the scent and taste remain on my tongue even with a water chaser. Can anyone recommend a good brand of CO that's truly flavorless and scentless?

        • Hi LV!

I feel great doing this as well.

Even if it didn't render any weight loss, I still love the way
          the CO makes me feel.

Hey, about the tasteless stuff, if you have a whole foods around you,
they have their own brand of "refined" coconut oil. This is the tasteless
kind. Seriously, ZERO flavor. And the "refined" part only refers to the fact
that the flavor is taken out, not that they've done anything else to it.

All the other good things found in CO are still there.

I've gotten another brand, Jarrow, from the Vitamin Shoppe, which is also
          tasteless.

Currently I'm using a HUGE tub of the regular kind (very coconutty flavor) from
          Costco.

However, I put my tablespoon in a coffee mug, add water, melt it into a liquid, hold
my breath and then drink it.

After, I breathe through my mouth for about 5 minutes and I never notice any residule
          coconut taste or smell.

If I were to eat it just off the spoon, then I totally would.

So if you haven't tried liquifying it in water yet, try it.

Make sure it's not boiling though when you drink it!

          • Ah thanks, Abs! I do have a Whole Paycheck near me Ok so the refined kind is the tasteless kind...good to know. Thank you! I'm going to go buy some right now. I'm also kind of amazed at the energy boost it gives me. A metabolic surge, and I love it.

I never thought to put it in a mug and add water to it. D'oh. It totally makes sense. It would make it so much easier to drink. I'm seriously thinking of investing in some old fashioned wooden clothes pins to clamp over my nostrils after drinking the CO....... ;P

            • If you get the clothes pins, search no further than the Dollar Store - they have them there - 20 for a buck!

              • I have some red palm oil (no orangatans harmed) that I wouldnt mind using for this. Its anything but flavorless but I can try the nose clip thing. Heatseeker do you think this would work?

Not Heatseeker obviously, but I think any oil works.

Give it a shot for a day, and if you notice that it keeps
your appetite suppressed, keep doing it.

My coconut oil is very odoriferous AND flavorful, but I don't
taste it when I breathe through my mouth for five minutes
                  after.

                  Good luck!

                    • I think any oil would probably work, but some definitely work better than others, for unknown reasons. And how well the oil works seems to vary from person to person. Some people don't notice any effects using coconut oil; others get great appetite suppression from CO but not ELOO. I've documented in this thread that certain oils will work for a while and then not work so well, and I'll switch oils to make the appetite suppression kick in again.

I'd say try out the red palm oil for a few days, and if you don't notice the appetite suppression, try EVCO or ELOO.

                      • Hello everyone.

I come from the Shangri-La lands and I call it a huge success for me. It's easy to do as long as you are willing to read, research and experiment a lot.

I have been documenting my experiences and adventures. If you want to read go to my journal on the SD forums Morex's adventures in SLD

I have posted pictures of my progress and some of my typical meals.

If you have any questions I'll be happy to help.

                        • Yeah! Morex is here!

                          Hey Buddy.

I hope your success puts some fire under some other peoples' buns to
                          give this a try.

I know it sounds super goofy, but OBVIOUSLY it works, soooooo, more people
                          jump on in here!

Morex, how is your girlfriend doing? And you know what, with regard to your post on the
other site, and people thinking you're crazy when you tell them how you've lost your
weight, just don't tell them. If they think you're nuts for guzzling oil, or that you're going
to croak because it's so "bad for you", just tell them you've just been eating "real food"
and keep the dang secret to yourself. They're not worthy!

                          Anyway, glad you're here.

                              • I have a question, and anybody who wants to can try to answer it for me.

I'd like to try this, but drinking oil, even just a tablespoon, cleans me right out. I've tried olive oil, coconut oil, and melted cocoa butter. Anybody have suggestions?

Edited to add: I found the FAQ and it says my body will adjust to it in a few days. I'd better schedule this for a weekend.
