The "Eat More (or Moar) Fat" January Challenge

  • I'm not sure if I'm eating enough fat. I need to start tracking fat again. I just ate a taco salad with guac, cheese, sour cream and salsa and feel really hungry still. UGH!!!

    • Might be an idea to check. I detest the idea of tracking now, but ill do it occasionally just to see if I am on track, but in saying that what I eat won't change if I go over, if I am still hungry.

      • Sorry I'm late to the party but DH brought home an 8 month old pup from the shelter because they were about to put him down. I've been rather busy since then as he has separation anxiety and we are working through it.

        I have been drinking more water and consuming more fat and in the last three days I have gone from 192.7 to 191.2. I am happy!!
        Off to eat my nice, fatty oxtail soup.
        Of all the paths you take in life, make sure a few of them are dirt.

              • I agree about the puppy pics.

                I am not counting macros or micros at the moment, am really just focusing on eating clean, with lots of fat added in.
                One thing that I have noticed is this old brain is as sharp as - today. I love doing the hard Sudoku, but often have to second guess the odd number. Today 2 x hard ones were quite easy. No guessing at all - just found all the pathways, so I will be interested to see if this continues !!!!!! It may not be ditsy Gwamma any more !!!!! (or the last two were easy ????)

                • Day 2 is in the books for me. Go to my journal if you wanna see what I had. Oh, wait... it changed. haha I'll have to update it - unless you have an MFP account - then you can just add me and see what I ate. Same screenname as here.

                  I even managed to NOT give in to the calls of the sugar when I got so fuming mad tonight that I was shaking. All I have to say is someone best not piss me off again or I'll sue him for copyright infringement. *angelic smile*

                  But, I got over it - kinda... I'm no longer wanting to reach to sugar.

                  Got hubby some Kill Everything tea tonight. Made him a mug of it - then drank it myself while I was fuming. I figured I needed some "Calm" and "Zen" more than he did at that moment.

                  So, given that, Day 2 is a raging success!!

                  • Yesterday was supposed to be the Anniversay dinner... but it wasn't.
                    Husband was very tired, slept really late, and was a bit banged up from a work incident. Not the type of story I like to hear after a night at work.

                    So yesterday was high fat for sure... but not really low carb.
                    I didn't eat dinner, but we went out to our special local ice cream place fro a treat at about 8:30.
                    I got two scoops of YUM.
                    So yesterday...
                    B:two cups of coffee with heavy cream.
                    D:Two scoops of premium, small batch, frozen custard.
                    Water with lime... lots of that.

                    Today was day ONE.
                    Weight was back to where it started before my trip to hell (aka: my family members house in TN where appropriate food was not an option.)... yesterday was also the last day of the Russian Circus (my period ) being in town... excellent timing.

                    B:Two cups (just a reminder that I use small 1970's vintage mugs, not large modern ones) of coffee with heavy cream.

                    Today we went out to dinner.
                    I shared a 30oz porterhouse with husband.
                    That probably sounds huge.
                    Remember there is a good sized bone in there. and we split the meat.
                    But yeah, generous.
                    Also... a small salad w/ olive oil and vinegar/herbs.
                    A side of steamed broccoli.
                    And a small head of roasted garlic. Like BUTTAH.... mmmmmmmmm.
                    Oh, and water with lime.

                    A bit high protein and not enough fat... but a porterhouse is a fatty steak.
                    So no biggie.

                    Normally breakfast is always the same. Coffee w/cream unless I have just water.
                    Dinner is usually much heavier on the veg, to which I add butter, and lighter on the protein.

                    Toe still isn't quite ready for walking yet.

                    • I think ill switch to coffee with HWC, I do like it. Although I am hesistant to change anything just yet, even though its early days and I am doing OK so far.
                      What happened to your toe Cori?

                      I am on MFP, but have diary set to private, since I have some way CW people on there. Can you set it so only some people can see it?

                        bulletproof coffee, 2eggs,2bacon,peppers,onions
                        Coffee ,1oz hnh
                        2oz Liverwurst,2oz creamcheese
                        1 oz Macadamias
                        Coffee, 1oz hwc
                        1oz pork rinds, 2 tbsp mayo
                        Burger,tomatoes,avocado
                        Almond butter 5 tbsp
                        2oz cheese
                        Water, tea

                        I got a little grazy today with the almond butter.

                          Here is mine:
                          BP Coffee x 2
                          Can of tuna mixed with homemade mayo, and 4 cherry tomatoes
                          Half a chicken sausage (our butcher makes the best sausages with just meat and herbs)

                          Sirloin Beef Steak
                          Butter
                          Broccolli

                          Has not been dinner yet though, but that is planned.
                          I have come in at about 1500 calories (17 g carbs, 118g Fat, and 100g protein).
                          Too much protein?
                          That is only if I eat the 300g of steak, but chances are I won't be able to fit it all in.

                          • I have dealt with ingrown toe nails for about 30 years due to very deep curved nails...
                            I finally decided to have the nail permanently killed/removed to prevent it from continuing to occur just two weeks ago.

                            It's close to healed, but still pretty tender.
                            I still have to keep it bandaged, but just started being able to wear normal shoes again today when leaving the house.
                            Normal being my stretchiest pair of VFFs... my Seeyas!
                            It's actually good I don't have to leave the house much.
                            Before I was having to wear over sized house slipper boots...

                              That sounds painful. I haven't been wearing my VFF for a while. Need to start again. Have been wearing nike frees though.
                              I have not heard of VFF seeyas, will have to google. I have good old KSOs, I wore them everywhere before.

                              • For the record, I am in love with mascarpone. You can keep your regular old cream cheese. I found an all natural one at Grocery Outlet. OH, YUM.
