Or bring your own bone broth along for sipping afterwards?
Sabine, I never would have thought of that. Nice catch!

Stocked up on all sorts of ketosis deliciousness foods: mascarpone, cream, lots of meats, kale, broccoli, cabbage, etc. Have one batch of chicken bone broth made, and another of lamb/veal neck bones simmering. Lovely!

Today I am fasting as part of pre-surgery, procedure scheduled for tomorrow. So, I will be fully in ketosis by thurs pm, having only had bone broth or tea with coconut oil since Tues evening. Good way to start! After that, I will just need to be careful with protein and carb ratios.
Unicorn - all the very best for your surgery tomorrow. We will be thinking of you

      • Feeling Great. I came back to work with a huge to do list and knocked most of the list out today. I love how sharp I feel eating this way.

Oh, I already lost 6 lbs of holiday bloat. I weighed this morning because I wanted to know if my pants were going to fit. I promise not to weigh again until Sunday-my official weigh in day.

        • Hallo everyone...

Got back from an x-mas excrusion out of state to my brothers house in which the food choices went from bad to worse while I was there. I didn't need to be there long, and he was understanding about my needs on a previous trip... so I expected better. *sigh*
It was bad. There were days I gave up and ate some gluten just because there were no other options... and too late in the evening/too far from alternative food access to get alternate food before it was announced that ONLY gluten items would be available for dinner. UGHHHHHHHHHHHHH.
I was glad to get home. That stuff is not my friend. At. ALL.

Since being home on the 29th I've been ding my regular thing... a couple of cups of coffee with cream, meat, veg with butter.
          Pretty LCHF fare.
Yesterday I had a traditional southern Jan 1st meal... so not exactly low carb. Black eyed peas, baby butter beans, corn (instead of corn bread), collard greens, and a honey-mustard and thyme glazed roast pork loin (instead of cured ham... lower salt/personal sodium issues). Legumes got a reprieve yesterday for the sake of nostalgia and tradition.
Yesterday was also my 14th anniversary... but husband was working, and working nights at that... so he slept all day, then worked all night. So we didn't celebrate, and barely even saw each other. We'll likely remedy that tonight, so I doubt that it will be very low carb... but it won't be really HIGH either as I just don't eat that way.

Tomorrow, as planned, is day one of the new year for me...
All holidays and celebrations over and done with... and likely by the feel of it my toe, which I had surgery on just two weeks previous, will be healed enough that I can start walking some again.

And that's why I'm here eating HFLC Primal/Paleo.

          • Hi all, ive been around but not posting.
I am reading through all the eat moar fats threads, but I started Monday, and have already lost 3 cm off my waist (just over an inch). Not relying on my scales at the moment, as they give me a different reading every time I stand on them, they were cheap and nasty, so buying better ones today with a higher weight limit.
I have been feeling pretty good too, my ratio is about 70/20/10, but I prob don't reach the carb limit, as I eat very little veg currently. I am eating a combo of BP coffee, and 1-2 actual meals with lots of fats. Never feeling like I have to eat, which for me, is amazing since I used to stuff myself stupid when I was following a SAD diet.

            • I've been drinking a cup of bone broth in the morning with half a Knorr bouillon at breakfast and it really does help keep me feeling better. I've also found something that I love. In my coffee, I have a mix of heavy cream (if any of you are in Central or southern Ohio, you need to try the cream from Snowville Creamery, it's amazing!) and So Delicious Chocolate Mint coconut milk. This is my new crack. Seriously that good.

I just can't get into exercising at all period. It's way too cold to get up in the morning to walk and by the time I get off work, I don't have the time. I don't have access to a gym so this makes it even more difficult for me. My DVR is dead so I'm trying to figure out what to do for a workout.

              • Oh and April last year, I stopped eating primal, and stopped CrossFit due to injury, and started eating SAD again. I gained about 20 kg during this time as well, and started getting a lot more aches and pains, then started getting pains which turned out to be gallstones, and the Dr wanted me to see a surgeon. Instead i did a gallbladder flush, yes it made me sick for 2 days, with both ends going. But no more pain after this. I have not yet had another us to confirm stones are gone, but I believe they are. After this went back to primal, but really focussed this week on eating moar fat. I have around 100 lbs to lose, and this is the last year I will be fat!

                      • Ohh.... also I made bone broth... mix of bones that I keep from when I cook. Simmered for 24 hours.

Geo- I may have to try the SoDelicious ChocMint stuff.
I haven't had any milk or milk stuff in ages because I'm lactose intolerant and store bought milk kills me.
I had to cancel my raw milk (which I can drink fine) order a few months before Christmas because of a sick/dying family member and traveling a lot, but while I'm strictly trying for ketosis I don't think I want to start back on too much milk.
I know the SoDelicious isn't very "primal" but for a little bit of flavor in my coffee.... meh.
Plus it seems to be a special 'holiday flavor'... so it'll be a short term thing.

Ayla, welcome. I know what you mean, any deviation from primal and I blow up.

                          • Hi, all! I was just going to follow this thread but may as well join since I'm eating low carb highER fat - and so happy to be back to again! I feel my best in ketosis but after doing so for just under two years had VERY RELUCTANTLY detoured for some time while trying to fix what turned out to be a rapidly worsening thyroid issue. Higher carbs (as in, 50-100g/day) felt good for a while, but old gut issues began to come back with each carby food I added back in. Now that I'm finally treating my thyroid, which I firmly believe also contributed to my crappy digestion (no pun intended), I'm giving the LC/VLC life another go. Going higher fat this time and dialing back on what was far too much protein and I already feel great after starting on Christmas day. My gut is already thanking me big time, as are the rest of my body and my less foggy brain.

Looking forward to following everyone's journeys - good luck to all of you! I've already checked out the recipe group and will join that, too - I think I may even have a recipe that could help jenn26.2 with her avocado aversion. It's worth a shot!

                            Happy New Year!

My weight is still here lol. I've tried Simplefit but I don't have a pull up bar and none of the parks around here have any bars at a level as to which I can attempt an Australian style pull up. When I woke up this morning, it was 15 degrees F out and yeah, with my asthma I'm afraid of going into an immediate asthma attack if I try to walk. Plus, walking outside is dangerous just due to the snow and barely anyone cleans off their sidewalks around where I live. I'm just at a loss for what to do now.
