  • That rabbit rillettes recipe I posted in Paleobirds carnivore thread is exceptional on a slice of apple.

I like almond butter on apple too... but I don't tend to keep it in the house.
The last jar went bad because I ignored it too long.
I tend to take it in shifts... either ignore it or EAT IT ALL.
    LOL

    • thankfully I haven't gotten to either extreme yet, so will keep it around, but if I ever do, it will be gone!
I only ever have a little on a slice of apple (I don't eat the whole apple though, I feed the rest to my children). They eat some off a spoon every day and love it. I reakon it would be good on banana too LOL, if I ate bananas.

      • The best thing about me and bananas is that I ONLY like them for approximately one day of their ripeness cycle... and then only sort of.
So if I buy them, and don't feel like eating the banana the day that it is all yellow with exactly the right amount of green at each end (one day past so much green it's basically inedible)... then it's over... I just won't eat one at all.
Once its gone all yellow it begins to taste over ripe to me. And all the gods forbid it has even the beginning of freckles... rotten, rotten tasting I tell you. GAH!
So husband has to eat them all.

Plantains are a different story. Cooked, black ripe plantains are like everything that is wrong with bananas made magically right!
I save them for special occasions.

Made me feel like I can't win for losing.
Geostump, have you tried dry skin brushing? I believe it is very useful to help tighten loose skin. I do it nightly before my shower and moisturise with sweet almond oil after my shower. It's a great detox too.

Way to go, Ashley!!!! I sometimes think I am the only one who has a stack of jeans waiting to be worn and then I come here and find that I am not the only one. I truly find inspiration/motivation for everyone here...it is very nice and refreshing. Anyway, my next pair of jeans are from the pre-pregnancy era and I know that will take a bit, but I am feeling empowered!

Ayla, I absolutely love cashew butter, so much somthat I can not keep it in the house. Spoonfuls disappear and the jar is suddenly empty and that is before my DH and DS know it is in the pantry! The last time I had some, I made a bread out of it from this website pre-EMF and did not calculate the macros. I just wanted to use it up and get it out of the house

                • OK All, I know that it is only the 31st, but I wanted to share my success for this partial month ( truly beginning EMF on 1/11).

                  Da-ta-da..down 9.5 pounds and missing a totally of 5.5 inches!! I feel super-great

A co-worker and I have challenged each other to keep on track with our perspective WOE and will be weighing and measuring on the 15th and the last day of the month. This should keep me motivated pretty much all of the time with work during the day and you on the forum when I can get an Internet connection.

                  • Way to go B2B. I've found sticking to a WOE is easier with support. I'm glad you and your co-worker have the challenge going and that there is a supportive group here to keep you (and me and everyone) going. Grok on!

                    • Hurray for Tomi and her ring, Ashley and her pants, B2B and the pounds!!!

Okay everyone, sometime today or tomorrow make your final January report here. Don't forget to include non scale changes. The new thread will open by 8:30 am tomorrow. Please let me know if I should add anything to the first post as it will act as a living document. For fun, You might want to recap your Jan report and give your "best EMF advice" in your first post on the new thread.

                      • Hooray, I lost my wheat cheat weight this morning!

3 pound gain that took 4 days to lose for some dim sum and nachos, I really don't' see it being worth it until I get WAY under 200. But if I go off the reservation as my rebellious nature is wont to do, well, I know I'll get right back on program. That is a good feeling.

                        • NK: What about warm milk/coconut milk with some cinnamon? My favorite chai mix is Tazo's organic chai. I don't have the ingredients in front of me, but I'm 99% it's all paleo-friendly. I steep it dark and add a good splash (or chunk, if my coconut milk sets up in the fridge) of coconut milk. No sweetener required, really soothing to me. I actually prefer it over any coconut milk hot chocolate drink I've ever made.

For those dealing with acne: I have been reading about different skin maintenance methods. Some people wash with oils, but it can take some trial and error to get the ratios of different oils right for your skin. My forehead tends to accumulate oil, always has, though less so than it was pre-primal. In the shower last night, I scrubbed a teaspoon or slightly more of baking soda onto my face, focusing on my forehead and chin (problem areas). When I got out of the shower, I splashed with cool water. My pores looked much tighter, blackheads on my nose (always there, not really huge, but can't get rid of them) were much less noticeable. In the morning, my pimples looked a little better too.

For individual pimples, cysts (pimples below the surface, not "white heads") and healing spots, use a dab of tea tree oil in the morning and evening (one of those should be post-shower, if you shower daily). AND DON'T TOUCH. haha

                          • Today, I have found that I can get my knee boots all the way up to my knees. I can say that for the first time in my life EVER that my calves are now within a normal size range. They've always been big and bulky. My jeans feel like they are about to fall off me and I don't own any belts. I'm a wearing a bra that I bought years ago and never been able to wear and it finally fits me comfortably. I can button up my coat and I have wiggle room in it. I'm really curious to see what the scale will say in the morning.

                            • So, for those of you who don't frequent my journal, I wanted to tell you about a little crisis I am having. I am on heavy duty blood thinners for a clotting disorder. Well this week I have been feeling extremely weak and breathless. I knew this was not carb flu as I am solidly in NK. I thought maybe it was my period coming on, but I think what is happening is that due to VLC eating, my body does not need as much medication to keep my blood thin. I believe I am suffering from sudden onset anemia. I have a Dr. appt to check blood levels at 11 am today. I'll let you know what happens

Meanwhile the Russian Circus with the big red tent AND the sharks arrived today. If my blood is too thin, I'm in for one hell of a show. Super bad timing for tomorrow's weigh in as well.

The good news: 15 days clean and on plan. I seem to be reading my body better. I can tell the difference between needing food and needing rest.
