No problem. I'll probably update in my journal, but I'll make note in here once I get my EMF protocol reigned in (not really happening right now) and test results in.

      • Well tomorrow will be the end of my first week of Paleo. I've been trying to keep the 70/20/10 but can't seem to get there. Pebbles67, I'm supposed to be similar to you but a little higher...using your numbers 85g Protein, 38 carbs, 154 fat. I go WAY over on the protein, stay under the carbs and am not even close on the fat. I can't seem to get it through my thick skull that the fat is necessary. Today's number are below...

        150 Protein
        18 Carbs
        62 Fat
        Total Calories - 1256

I don't feel hungry at all. I jog about 2 miles 3x a week, swim .75mile 1x per week and sometimes bike 1 day per week as well. Haven't had any issues but I'm not super fast so I'm not sure I'd notice. The Ketostix show that I'm in ketosis but as you said, they aren't necessarily accurate and I'm showing as "trace" right now.

I'm down between 5-7lbs this first week which is nuts in and of itself. I have a REALLY hard time losing weight. Did Medifast (1000 calories a day) years ago for 12 weeks and lost 4 lbs. :-( Removed gluten and lost 30. I'm really working on the level of inflammation in my body since I test really high on my CRP (C-Reactive Protein) test.

I obviously need to get my protein down and fat up. Any other insights?

        Megan

P.S - Using the whipping cream in my coffee helped with the fat yesterday so thanks for that tip.

          • Let's talk almonds. As in "if I leave the container open on the counter my hand dives right in a lot" almonds. I had purchased two chocolate baking bars. Four actually, two of each. Semi-sweet and 100%. Half a bar of each melted gave me 75% dark chocolate. Threw a bunch of almonds in and stirred, put them to cool on waxed paper. OMG! SO good! I am not a huge fan of chocolate so it is far easier for me to stay out of them PLUS putting them in the fridge and hiding them behind other thing is out of sight, out of mind. Macadamias next! Nice way to get some fat from nuts without overdoing.

Anybody else doing the rollercoaster of "ooh, I feel thinner. Crap, I feel fatter!"?

            • Yay I finally got a good positive test on those strips.

On a side note: I figured out how wine effects someone in ketosis. I had been wondering why my 4 oz of wine was making me feel tipsy o_O it usually takes way more than that.

              • I have issues and can't eat nuts anymore.
                So... not nuts for me.
Also, I don't eat chocolate any longer for the same reason.

Coffee is my last hold out as a "it might be sorta bad for me" but I'm NOT giving it up thing.

                I also have a confession...
I finally made the cream cheese clouds.
                Don't really like them.

I don't have much of a sweet tooth anymore.
I think it's because I've been doing this longer that the rest of you maybe?
I have my little indulgence of real frozen custard once every couple weeks, and a baked sweet plantain about that often, and that's it.
I also have a touch of artificial sweetner in my coffee in the morning, but not enough that it is really sweet... just barely there.
                That's all I need I guess.
I don't yearn for anything more than that.

At the beginning of Honey Crisp apple time I was having one or two a week and REALLY enjoying them... but to me those are better than 'sweets'.

My taste buds have really changed over time.

                • Oh my word you guys are cracking me up I can't keep up with this thread. The russian circus convo had me laughing as when I first read cori's post I thought cool a circus. Second time she mentioned it I was like oh not really what I thought. I'm glad to know I am not the only one who thought Russian acrobats.

For those with low progesterone you can try a cream called progest it can help raise your progesterone level just don;t follow the directions on the box. You use it twice a day starting after you ovulate so you need to be tracking ovulation. You cannot just assume you ovulate on cd14. Which nameless may have been why your level was low. If they did a cd21 test as opposed to a cd3 and a test one week after ovulation it could throw your levels off if you don;t ovulate on cd 14, which many women do not.

                    • The progesterone cream made a bunch of hairs pop up on my chinny chin chin. I hate that! I am glad to have found this and may order a tincture from an herbalist. Trying the pills and see how that goes, then decide.

I don't need MORE of them... what I need is to figure out how to make them go awayyyyy.

Geez... I do know this.... and have a gallon bag full of leaves that I ordered at the end of summer.
I just got out of the habit of drinking in since the weather got cooler... since I prefer it as iced tea.
I was making pitchers of it... then it got cool and I started traveling and I stopped.
So I only drank it for maybe 3 months...

Time to get back on the mint tea wagon.
                            Thanks for reminding me!

I like a good mint tisane myself, but don't drink it very often just because I like my tea even more. Heh.

Looks like what you are doing is working for you. Don't worry so much about your macros, being new to this, your body will probably react very well to normal Primal fat levels.
