  • Almond milk?

I've never had a problem with dairy, and consume milk, butter and cheese on a regular basis. Is there any benefit to switching to almond milk but still having butter and cheese? All regular store-bought, organic when I can. The supermarket has 3 types of almond milk. Their organic brand one has organic sugar in it, and I'd rather stay away from sugar. Sanitarium does an unsweetened one, but it contains lecithin and carrageenan in it. So what would be the more primal option?

Do you drink milk or alternatives, or stay away from all dairy?

I don't really like the taste of almond milk and prefer coconut milk if I'm switching out. I get my milk raw from a farm though and just like to alternate with coconut cream for variety.

While I'm not as vehemently anti-nut as Derpy, I do think they can be overdone. I would agree with NH that coconut is a good alternative to switch things up. If I didn't have access to raw dairy (and a friend who has goats), I might go completely coconut.

I do like coconut milk, I might give that a go instead.

Fermented dairy and cream is fine, just really try to stick to organic.

I like almond milk because it's low calorie. But it's a bit of a Frankenfood.

Yeah, coconut milk and almond milk aren't exactly interchangeable if you are consuming them in any kind of quantity. Coconut milk has way more calories. As to the OP's question, I would go with the kind without the sugar. Making your own is obviously best, but I'm assume you know that already. I have a carton of unsweetened almond milk in the fridge that I sometimes add too smoothies to make them a little runnier. But as others noted, it is a bit of a frankenfood so I only use it sparingly.

Almond milk is a STELLAR source of vitamin E.

But yes, do be aware that you CAN overdo them since they are high in omega-6 fats so maybe just switch it up every once in a while with almond milk but not a regular thing. And coconut milk to echo the others, is a great way to change up the dairy as well.

Sometimes it's hard to know if you've got issues with dairy or not if you've never NOT had it before. Experiment, experiment, experiment.

The metal in my head clangs and clings as I walk - freaks my balance out. So the natural thought is just clogged up. Totally clogged up. So we need to unplug these dams, and make the the natural flow... It sort of freaks me out. We need to unplug the dams. You cannot stop the natural flow of thought with a cling and a clang..."

All milk alternatives are complete garbage, including coconut, almond, rice and soy. They are full of fillers and gums and any actual vitamin or mineral in them has been added.

Drink real milk from an animal.

Nah, if I use coconut milk, I use the stuff from a can, full-fat and all, not that bottled or cartoned crap.

And all you need to make your own almond milk is almonds, water, and a blender.

Mixed with Vodka and Kahlua, I find the flavor of almond milk disgusting. I can't stand it strait, or in coffee either, and although I've never tried it over Fruit Loops I'm pretty sure it would make me vomit. As someone who avoids milk and rarely has either butter, cream, or cheese once or twice a week, my substitute of choice is Coconut. There's a Trader Joe's in my area that sells an unflavored, unsweetened carton that's delicious. My new favorite pre-bed snack is 1/2 cup frozen blue berries in a glass with coconut milk poured over. Stir vigorously with a fork to break up the fruit and drink.

Almond milk can also made at home,by mixing ground almond with water in blender. You may also add Vanilla flavoring and sweeteners with it.

                              Thanks!
