Here's the deal Peatarian folks: for me, wheat is the devil. I'm speaking for MYSELF. I'm not speaking for everyone here. I don't claim that Primal or Paleo eating is the only way of eating. If you would have felt how I was feeling yesterday after the wheat indulgence, you would have said the same thing too. Obviously my body does not tolerate it well because I was extremely sick. And I'm not just talking about digestion either. My skin actually hurt to touch all over my body. My skin! My knees were stiff and aching all day long. I felt like I had a horrible hangover without actually drinking anything. My body felt like it was flooded with toxins, that's the best way I can describe it. And on top of that I was having horrible stomach cramping and runs all day. It wasn't psychosomatic. I had eaten sugar in the days prior and I was fine compared to how I felt after eating the wheat. So for me personally, wheat is no good. The fact that I have recently gone VLC is of no consequence, and it doesn't mean that I don't like carbohydrates or that I am "against" them in some way. I am not closed minded at all. But facts are facts, and just based on nutritional value alone, someone is far better off getting their carbohydrates from a vegetable than from any processed grain product. So yeah, when/if I start eating carbs again, you bet your ass I'm going to load my plate with veggies and potatoes/sweet potatoes instead of something that makes me feel like death. And you can't deny that carbs from veggies are much healthier and carry much more nutrient value than carbs from bread and the like.

I've read it. Its only because I have read it that I bother commenting. Its an informed decision on my part. No person is "the chosen one", but as far as I've read of Peat he is actually not a fan of wheat either? So I don't even get why the comments on this. I like blogs that distill recent science into coherent health theory. Otherwise, I just read the primary research myself. You don't like to call wheat "the devil"...thats fine....but the OP has obvious issue with it. Why bother spamming crap about pancakes and french bread?

I know you like to appear enlightened, but all you've done is cock jumped from whatever low carb guru you used to like to Ray Peat, and now you're trying to enlighten all of us with your "new truth". Doesn't make you any better than us.

Glad you are open minded. Yes Peat does not like grains either but like i said i dont follow all his principles, just defending him from all the people who wont even read his stuff. I just hate that people have to go to extremes like calling something the devil. Her detailed response above makes much more sence the. Her first post. I have no problems with cutting out grains or anything else for that matter if it negatively effects you. Just have a problem with people pushing their beliefs on to others.

I see you drank the kool-aid pretty hard. Let me know in a year how you are doing.

              *Sigh...*
Then quit pushing Peat-isms at everyone on a Primal/Paleo board who has chosen that route as their 'diet' of choice?

And that's why I'm here eating HFLC Primal/Paleo.

I'll be sure to let you know how I'm doing on my HIGH CARB paleo diet. We get it, you tried low carb, it didn't work, you ate sugar and got healthy. Now you're spreading the good word in the most arrogant and annoying manner possible, which makes you a douchebag, and that's why I don't like you. That's why nobody here likes you, not because we drank the kool-aid.

I wasn't pushing my belief onto others. I said in my very first post that I overindulged and that I felt terrible because of it. It's not like I posted and said "Wheat is the devil!!! I don't eat it, and no one else should eat it either!" Instead of reading my first post for what it was, which was that I ate wheat and felt terrible because of it, you decided to personalize it for some reason and somehow morph it into me pushing my bad wheat experience onto others to try to convince them not to eat wheat either. And now you hate me because I went to extremes and called wheat the devil......I think you need to take a look at your own posts dude. You are the one going to extremes, not me.

Marissa, you do not have to explain yourself for people who are trying to pick up a fight. Everyone else understood your intent, don't worry.

I'll let you know how I'm doing Zach. I'm a 67 y.o. woman who gave up grains and sugar almost 4 years ago. I lost pounds I had been struggling for years to lose while eating a low fat grain-based diet. Not onloy did I lose weight but the rosacea of my face went away. My lower back and knees and neck stopped aching. My high blood pressure dropped to 114/74. My HDL soared to 74 and my trigs dropped off the charts.

You do a huge disservice to others like me who are seeking better health here with your endless preaching about "good grains". There ain't nothing good about them. You should just STOP preaching your grain obsession here b/c people aren't interested in it. Grow up or please go away. Go post on a site that lauds the grains that have made so many of us sick. You'll be comfortable there. Here you are just a PainInTheAss.
                      Starting Weight: 197.5
                      Current Weight: 123
                      Far healthier!

Then what are you here for really? Don't you have something better to do? Like eating some healthy whole grain pancakes doused with maple syrup?

If eating grains and processed sugars doesn't give you any noticeable discomfort, it still doesn't mean they are good for your health long term.
