Awesome in Omega 3s and full of fiber while low in carbs...

Does flax seeds and their oil count as grains or a primal alternate?

Omega-3s: difficult to convert to the kind we actually use.

      Fiber: badly overrated.

The fat is easily oxidized and is frequently rancid by the time it gets to you. It's the same problem with fish oil: try to get it in a dark bottle, vacuum or nitrogen atmosphere sealed, refrigerated.

Additionally, it has some plant hormone analogues that have been suggested to mess with sex hormone function.

It's not terrible for you, but unless you're crazy about it, don't go out of your way to eat it.
Give me liberty. Exploration of other options will be vigorously discouraged.

Is this "messing with sex hormone function" applicable to women as well, or just men? I'd always read that flax lignans are helpful for women wanting to reduce their risks of breast cancer by blocking some estrogen receptors with the "look-alikes" from flax.
