  • Is baking with Whey protein powder ok?

    Getting away from the gray areas of "we shouldnt be baking" is there anything wrong or potentially harmful about baking stuff with protein powder?

    i found a site full of recipes all using protein powder all pretty easy and id like to try some. i never even thought of trying to bake with it until i saw the site.

    as long as you srick to primal principles in the ingredients I would think it'd be fine. Years ago I made a cheese cake using a protien powder. The recipe came with the powder.
    Would I be putting a grain-feed cow on a fad diet if I took it out of the feedlot and put it on pasture eating the grass nature intended?

      I have baked with it in the past (muffins, breads, etc.) and it works fine. I have never had an issue with it.

        It's probably not the most optimal ingrediant for baking, but it won't really cause any bad things to happen either, so I think you're fine. I'd not worry about it.

          the only issue is that cooking tends to denaturize the product and make it less bio available to your body (or so I've heard)

            I remember Choco mentioning something about the whey oxidizing, making baking with protein powder not a very good option. I can't remember exactly what he said. It was enough to scare me off of baking with whey.

              Protein powder is already denatured before cooking with it. I wouldn't touch protein powder... just eat real food.

                I bet your baking would taste miles better if you used ricotta or quark. A tiny bit more carbs, surely, but miles better in baking, lol!
