  • Do i need to eat more when going keto?

Hey, I am currently trying to lean out for 2-3 weeks, just because i put on 2-3 pounds of fat while adding muscle for the last few months. I am going to go VLC for a while, and i read that the body burns more calories while in ketosis. I am currently in a 500 calorie deficit, but if i were to go into ketosis would I really be in more of a deficit? I don't want a bigger deficit than 500 because i'm trying to maintain my muscle mass. Any replies would be helpful, thanks.

Just eat MOAR and everything will fall into place.
F 5 ft 3. HW: 196 lbs. Primal SW (May 2011): 182 lbs (42% BF)... W June '12: 160 lbs (29% BF) (UK size 12, US size 8). GW: ~24% BF - have ditched the scales til I fit into a pair of UK size 10 bootcut jeans. Currently aligning towards 'The Perfect Health Diet' having swapped some fat for potatoes.

She said eat MOAR, not more...let your primal inner-voice be your guide.

You guys are funny. Try to listen to your body, eat until you are satisfied, but don't stuff yourself full.

If i ate until i'm full i wouldn't lose any weight, i would just maintain because i'm already lean. I wasn't asking for advice just if being in ketosis means you burn more calories.

The very title of your thread contains the words, "do I need to eat more...?"

Don't be a pleb, kid. Be clear on what you're asking.

Actually, keto has been proven to be easier to maintain in a slightly (but NOT extremely) reduced caloric environment. It's not IMPOSSIBLE to gain while in keto, it's just a little bit more tricky.

Besides, the hunger will kind of blunt itself in ketosis. it's just what tends to happen naturally.
"The cling and a clang is the metal in my head when I walk. I hear a sort of, this tinging noise - cling clang. The cling clang. So many things happen while walking. The metal in my head clangs and clings as I walk - freaks my balance out. So the natural thought is just clogged up. Totally clogged up. So we need to unplug these dams, and make the the natural flow... It sort of freaks me out. We need to unplug the dams. You cannot stop the natural flow of thought with a cling and a clang..."

Being a little hungry is an important part of the weightloss game on all kind of diets, also Keto, and most people experience more hungerpangs when getting lower in bodyfat.

The best way is to learn to enjoy the process of staying a little hungry, it is possible to train even that...

So it might be helpful but it certainly isn't NECESSARY.
