  • Excellent Slate article re: fat and conventional wisdom

    http://www.slate.com/id/2248754 (h/t to http://mecaveman.wordpress.com/2010/...e-enemy-slate/ for the link)

Very well written. Kudos to the author for a well-researched and thoughtful approach to a topic very much against CW.

Yes Mark posted that in weekend link love. I was happy to see that perhaps some more people will stop depriving themselves of saturated fatty goodness because of this.

My one qualm is that the author says that people with heart disease are more likely to have higher LDL. Not so, it is that arterial plaque is composed of mainly LDL and so the automatic conclusion became that we needed to purge our bodies of this horrible, disease-causing lipoprotein at all costs. Of course total LDL is not a predictor of heart disease but HDL-VLDL and then of course inflammation/oxidization.

Stabbing conventional wisdom in its face.

Anyone who wants to talk nutrition should PM me!

Thanks, Stabby. I missed Weekend Love this weekend. H/t to Mark, in that case...
