Advice on how to be a primal vegeterian?

    Adding chlorella &/or spirulina into her diet would provide more protein & also contains healthy doses of chlorophyll.

    I love it & laugh when people tell me they're vegetarians, then they quickly add that they eat fish & chicken too. Haha...

        I think coconut products would be really useful for her, because fish and eggs contain very little saturated fat for satiety.
        Primal since May 2012. Loving life and down 50lbs.

            I wasn't too worried, legbiter.

            yeah, I do eat it, but. . . yeah, just decided to move away from pork. it's probably paleobird's and/or my kosher friend and/or bulletproof dude's influence.

              Given that she's actually pescetarian, not vegetarian, I'd say, yes she absolutely can eat primally! The only difference is that she eats fish instead of other meats (although, to be honest, I don't get how ethically it's better to eat fish than other animals, but that's beside the point).

              So provided she eats a good range of fish, as well as other primal foods (eggs, vegetables, etc.) she should be fine.

                      I just wanted to come back and say this question is just retarted. Most of the food paleolithic man consumed was meat. There was very little vegetable matter growing and most of them didn't even recognize this as food. They lived in cold climates, they were just killing the meat and eating it.

                        Re-tarted, huh..? They musta been repeatedly eating some extremely sour/tart crabapples I suppose, heh heh...

                        Paleo man lived in a wide variety of climates & elevations. He ate whatever he could find to survive, & that included sprouts, edible weeds/herbs, berries, pilfered eggs, insects, carrion if he was bold, strong & hungry enough & yes, fish & seafood if he lived near rivers, lakes, or coastlines. When he learned to hunt in groups with weapons, bigger prey became parts of his caloric load. Later after the discovery of fire, root vegetables became a viable source of useable calories & he could store them for leaner times. So he'd ate anything he could when he could, if veggies were present, he'd eat them. Even kale grows in winter snow!

                          Many early humans lived in tropical/subtropical climates as well, and had access to fish/shell fish, fruits, tubers, and greens during seasonal shifts throughout the year. Not a stretch to think that humans would have eaten them.

                            Actually there's some evidence that the first humans subsisted mostly on fish for their source of protein. Ergo, having a pescetarian diet is perfectly primal .

                              The vegetarians I know watch their fat intake like a hawk! And they are huge sugar burners! Sweets, sweets, sweets, and carby things.

                              I don't know how your girlfriend is, but the hardest part of the switch for her might be to switch her taste buds over from sugar to savory things. And to get her to even think about eating more fats. Since she'll be lowish on the proteins (how much fish and eggs can you really eat...) then she'll need to replace all of those carby-sugar calories with fat calories, and that might be a hard switch for her. Mentally, especially since fat is 'supposed' to be bad for us in CW thinking.

                              I agree with the others, coconut products, avocados, EVOO, etc. Ditch the wheat and legumes.

                                I didn't say there was anything worng with being a pescetarian, but my argument is that the bulk of the diet was meat (fish, game, ect.), never plant BASED. I didn't say they didn't eat plants, but it would never have made up the bulk. Except with the recent article about the mutation in the reseach section, but you see how much good that did for those people.
